CPS Anniversary

First off, can I say I officially have a love/hate relationship going on with my computer!!!!!

My computer decided to have a mini meltdown last Tuesday. As we were trying to repair it, it seemed that the better answer was to get a new computer since mine was very old and a very old computer doesn't really always want to work all that well. SOOOOOO, since then, I have been on the journey of getting a new one and getting it up and running and this is has just NOT been a fun experience. I have too many programs that I need the software to get working again and some were purchased online and they are out of date. I can really say that at this point I am not happy! Hopefully that will change.

Anyway, this week marks an anniversary for Card Positioning Systems sketch blog. Thankfully, this is a good thing and it has been such a fun adverture for me.

We were to pick a sketch from the past for our project. I picked this one, sketch #166

I also got to work with a set of stamps from Gina K. If you check out CPS all during the anniversary celebration wich runs through February 18th. Each team member played with a different sponsor so you will be seeing lots of great stuff and there will also be lots of prizes to win.

I love this little bunch of flowers, so this was fun to work with and to use with this sketch.

Of course, I used my Copic markers for the coloring and I also used probably my newest favorite product, Liquid Pearls by Ranger. The patterned paper is Little Yellow Bicycle. The label shape is cut wiht a Spellbinders Nestabilities. My circle cut out was done with the Kreaxions circle cutter which is so the perfect tool for this sketch.

Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge

Today marks a new Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge.

This is the photo of the inspiration piece.

I liked the striped pattern and that the stems were long and lean. I used to sit and create my own patterned paper with markers, a ruler and stripes so I thought this was a good time to pull out that technique. My card is also long and skinny to match the long stems. The thing about drawing your own lines is you can pick the colors. The sentiment is from a set of Paper Smooches stamps.

The dots are from the Gently Seasoned stamp set.

It is a Rose and a Tiny Envelope

Another post to share some sketch cards.

First off, my Card Positioning Systems card for this week. Taylored Expressions is our sponsor and I was so happy to get to play with this amazing set, Rosy Posey. It included some solid roses and some outline roses, both in two sizes.

I used some Clearsnap stamp pads. I used a Chalk stamp pad in Orchid Pastel. It was just the right kind of ink to stamp a nice, solid rose. Next I stamped over that with a ColorBox Die stamp pad in Dark Cherry. The leaves were also stamped in that same Dark Cherry and after I cut the scallop circle label with a Spellbinders Nestablities, I spritzed it with some Clearsnap Smooch Spritz.

Next up is my Unscripted sketches card for this week. This week's sketch includes a piggyback challenge - use a pocket.

I am so in love with the wonderful, vintage feel of these papers by BasicGrey and it was fun that the different patterned papers go together so nicely.

I found this little vellum envelop in my stash and thought it was a great way to add a "pocket" to my card.

I wanted to share my Card Postioning Systems card for this last week with you.

Sweet 'n Sassy stamps is our sponsor. It was fun to pick out a set to use because their selection of images is so wide.

I am partial to Dogwood, so it was fun to color these. This set comes with a rather large bird sitting on them but I just didn't use him this time.

I love sets of stamps with Scripture verses in them so this was the perfect set for me.

Our granddaughter was going to Disneyland for her birthday and we were giving her a gift card for the trip so I quickly used my Cricut Expression to create this little card. I folded it so I had a little pocket on this inside for the card.

Chunky glitter accents the towers.

I stopped at the beach the other day at sunset to watch the big waves. I loved capturing the waves crashing and bouncing in the air.

In order to show off some new and totally adorable Flower Soft products, the team is hosting a challenge. We are using the Mabel Lucie Attwell Kit #8. I can't even believe how cute these little kids are. They are the perfect, vintage look for Valentines but for so many other occasions too.

Here is my card:

I used the original front of one of the cards and then cut out the images from another card front. I used a minimum of accents with a strip of patterned paper and a little design cut with my Cricut.

I then layered the two with foam tape. I used a Copic marker to create a shadow around the bottom image. Flower Soft was added to little portions of the top image.

Sketches and Tools

It is Saturday so it is time for another Unscripted sketch.

I loved the simplicity of this one so it was really fun to use. PLUS, Paper Crafts Magazine and the Moxie Fab blog are featuring tools in papercrafting all of this week. I just don't know what a papercrafter would do without tools! I, of course, then, had to play along and used this sketch for my idea.

I created this card to go along with the embossing/debossing category. I love to use my Cuttlebug to create wonderful embossed designs but a score board is another way to emboss and you can get so creative with it.

I just scored lines 1" apart up and down my card front. When that was done, I did sand those raised areas a little because I was using Core'dinations cardstock and a handy thing about that cardstock is that sanding it exposes the core and makes the embossed lines stand out a bit. I then cut three pieces of patterned paper to fit inside three of the diamond shapes I had created. That paper is by October Afternooon. 1, 2, 3 with a few other supplies and I had a card created.

This card represents my Card Positioning Systems card for this last week. I pulled out some October Afternoon papers and a chipboard sticker.

I accented the chipboard sticker with some White Flower Soft, a sculpture flower by Prima and some pink Liquid Pearls.

A new Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge

Time for another Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge. This one runs January 12 - January 25th.

Do you love the red and green together and it isn't Christmas related!

I wanted to pick up that great red/dot wall and the green tiny print, especially in the square pillows. I picked up my 8"x8" mini pad of Sidewalks papers by October Afternoon and found the perfect papers. I used little square punched pieces to go across the card front.

I liked the little black table with the lamp on it and thought the little telephone stamp by Paper Smooches would go along with that. I stamped it on plain white cardstock and matted that with a black circle since the lamp in the inspiration piece had black lines on it.

The sentiment is a rub-on by EAD Designs and Paper Smooches.

I hope you can find some time to play along with this piece.
Gotta share a few photos taken with my Hipstamatic phone camera...

I went down to the beach at sunset time because we were having big waves. Someone had created this perfect, amazing sand castle so I had to take photos.

I used one of my new black/white lens/film packages.

Colour Q and Unscripted Sketches

I always love the color combinations at Colour Q and I was able to find time to play along this week.

I stamped the Hero Arts background stamp in white and embossed it in white and then colored the background of that piece with Distress Stain.

I cut several layers of this flower design from a piece of 3 Bugs in a Rug patterned paper.

And here is another Unscripted Sketch that I loved working with.

I picked out a great digital paper by Design House Digital and printed it out. Punched stars seemed like a great accent for a school themed card.

The little house is also a digital element.
And, for a neat photo...

This is our yard this last week. I had to stand and be amazed at the gorgeous blue sky and I wanted to share the flowers that we have in bloom. Yellow mums in the foreground and white roses.

Unscripted sketches and CPS sketch

I get to share some cards in this post that I created to go along with some sketches.

First up, this weeks Unscripted sketches card.

I got to pull out my brand new mini pad of Echo Park papers! I just love when patterned papers are designed to go together so well.

I am having so much fun using my Martha Stewart score board and making these medallions. It just seemed like the accent that I needed to finish off this card.

This is last weeks Unscripted sketches card. I just didn't have time to post it last week. You can tell that I turned the sketch for my card.

The patterned paper is from the Your Truly mini pad of papers by Echo Park. I loved paring this print with the turquoise.

The little doily shapes are cut with a Cricut cartridge as is the word, "Thanks".

Next up, here is my card for this weeks Card Positioning Systems sketch. I just picked up some of the pieces in a new collection by Little Yellow Bicycle. For that punched edge, I used one of my Kreaxions 4-in-1 punch.

I used some of the stickers from the collection. I just love how easy and quick this card was because of the matching pieces.

I have used Penny Black stamps since forever! I have stamped for years and this is one of those companies that has continued to create adorable stamps. I picked this little guy in a set of stamps for my card.

A hedgehog just NEEDS Flower Soft, it is a perfect fit. I used two colors of the Ultra Fine, Toffe and Earth. I most often seem to use the Ultra Fine Flower Soft for my projects. I also used some of Penny Blacks' Mix and Match papers. I picked a set with my most favorite shades of green but the best part is this paper is white on the reverse side making them perfect for cardmaking and with that white core, I cut my labels with a Spellbinders die and embossed the edges and then sanded the embossed edge to expose that white core.

For the flower, I colored it first with pink Copic markers and then added Ultra Fine Flower Soft in Raspberry Fizz.

Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge

I get so excited everytime it is time for a new

Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge to be posted.

This is the one posted today, December 29th. Be sure to check out the Paper Smooches SPARK blog to see what the team created to go along with this inspiration piece.

Here is my card! I just had to go along with that great rainbow of colors that went down the page. I just picked up scraps of papers I had on my table that went along with the shades in the photo.

Since I used this cute little image, I thought a "LOVE" theme would work. I added the heart to him to further the theme. I covered the heart with Glossy Accents. I had been playing with my new Distress Stains and touching the tip of the container to paper to see the colors and I thought this play piece of paper was the perfect place to stamp him. He was instantly decorated with a pattern!

How about a little movie review!?

We went to see New Years Eve and LOVED it! It is full of stars and it is the cutest story.

We also went to see We Bought a Zoo and it is a must see for kids. Your heart will melt with the little girl who is his daughter. My grandson is 3 and it was not as fast moving as he would have liked but the animals were great to see.

Play Date Cafe colors

I found time to play along with the Play Date Cafe color challenge.

This is the newest one for this week.

I found some pages to download from an old time children's Christmas book. I printed one of them out on textured cardstock and used it for my card. The paper behind that is a digital paper.

The red doily is cut with the Art Philosophy Close to My Heart Cricut cartridge and the snowflake is a new Martha Stewart punch.

This is last weeks Play Date Cafe color combo.

I was instantly in love with those colors together and so I created a card then realized one day too late that I missed entering it for that weeks challenge. I still love the card though. The ornament is a stamp by Gina K as is the sentiment. The white paper came with the embossed design in it, I thought it added an elegant look.

I stamped it with black and embossed it with clear embossing powder and then colored it with Distress Stain in Broken China. One of my new most favorite supplies is silver Liquid Pearls. I added a few dots of that.

While I had this set of stamps by Gina K out on my desk, I created two very quick and easy cards. I cut the two labels with the Cricut Expressions and then stamped the sentiment. This was added to a piece of paper by Teresa Collins. I love the elegance of this paper collection.

This card was for some guys so I liked the more masculine look of this print.

Sunset from the other day in one of our shopping center parking lots! I used my Hipstamatic camera on my phone for the effect.

Flower Soft snow and Gingerbread people

First off, the Flower Soft blog is hosting a challenge starting on Wednesday, the 21st. Check it out for prize info.

If you want a snow look for any of your holiday or winter projects, Flower Soft is the answer. It comes in the regular size and the newer Ultra Fine size. I used the Ultra Fine on my card. All of the elements on my card are digital from Echo Park. I love using digital papers and elements because you can pick the sizes, etc.

I ran lines of glue and added the Ultra Fine Flower Soft over it.

I also wanted to share my gift card holders. The holder base is cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy Close to My Heart cartridge.

I created little rosettes with some of the Gingerbread Land collection by Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker. The rosettes are so easy and fast to create when using a score board. I used the Martha Stewart one. The little gingerbread people are cut from one of the papers.

What I found was pretty fun about using this particular piece of paper from the collection is that wherever I cut it, I ended up with a neat pattern once the papers were scored and folded. I cut my strips at 1 1/2" for these rosettes.

Inspiration and sketches

I wanted to play along with one of the challenges at the Moxie Fab Get Inspired week. This is the inspiration piece that I played along with. I think that is it adorable, so feminine and gotta love that great checked, green and cream pattern.

This is the card that I created. I love this doily die from My Favorite Things, a look that is so very feminine and to that I added a circle cut from a piece of October Afternoon patterned paper.

I love this particular piece of patterned paper because whatever circle you cut out, the patterns and colors are all different so you get a completely different look with each one. The flower is a resin flower by Maya Road. I added a pearl to the middle of that to give the look of the jewelry on the little jacket.

I also used the Unscripted sketches sketch for this week. I turned it like I am showing you here.

The piggyback challenge was to not use any flowers so of course, a card for a little boy just seemed like the right fit.

I also picked some October Afternoon supplies for my card. It was fun to use all chipboard sticker pieces for my accents, sooooo fast and easy.

More from our SNOW or Big Bear trip. How can a snow trip be complete without a snowball fit! It was so much fun to try to capture the snow "in the air"!

It didn't actually snow while we were there and our granddaughter so wanted to see snow falling so this photo of the fit captured the feel of that pretty well!

Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge

If you enjoy challenges like I do, today is the time for another SPARKS challenge at Paper Smooches.

This is the SPARKS challenge, is it cute!!!

I realize that the SPARKS challenge photo is rather Christmas related and I was going to go in that direction but then I created this card and it so fit! The colors are exact.

I used some Crate Papers for this, I couldn't believe how fitting they are to a DAD theme and to go along wtih this adorable card stamp by Paper Smooches.

I have another card I want to share too using Paper Smooches stamps. I used some digital Cosmo Cricket papers for the card. I just printed out small pieces of these two patterns. I cut around some of the swirls to look like swirling snow. The card base is cut with my Art Philosophy Close to My Heart Cricut cartridge. I love that I could cut the card base and then two label shapes that are a perfect fit and matted just right.

I love this little snowman stamp. I used mini buttons on him.

And, to share some photos...

Our family took a couple days to go find snow. We are all Southern Californian's so we had to drive to play in the snow. We went up to Big Bear Lake. Of course, we had to build a snowman!

This is our youngest grandsons first "snow" experience. Talk about excited!

This is the finished guy. Kind of a bear with a mohawk!

Christmas on my mind!

Are you like me, happy to be creating cards that have a Christmas/Winter theme! I love so many of the papers and elements for this season.

First off, I used the Unscripted sketch for this week.

And the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger color combo! Isn't this photo of ornaments just wonderful!

Love, love, love this collection by Pink Paislee and they have been giving away little kits all week long. What is expecially fun about the dotted card base is that it is a piece of digital paper and I printed it out so the front and the back of the card are the same print.

The two labels and the little snowman and snowlady are digital elements from the set. Notice that punched border. I used one of my Kreaxions 4-in-1 punches to create it.

Next up, my Card Positioning Systems card. That wonderful, vintage card is free from The Graphics Fairy. I just printed it on textured cardstock. I think that adds to the vintage feel.

The embossed piece behind that vintage card is embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder. And if you look close, you can see the blue and green Flower Soft that is added around her shoes.

The snowflakes are punched from a digital piece of "text" print paper. I added bits of Flower Soft to the greens that she is holding and I also added some chunky glitter here and there.

Another collection of Christmas/Winter papers that I am in love with are some from Bella Blvd. This card is created from them.

That circle is cut with my Kreaxions circle cutter. This cutter is the perfect tool to use to cut a ring like this. I cut a larger circle first and then changed the size on the cutter and cut a smaller circle.

Think Snow Flower Soft challenge

The Flower Soft team is featuring a

I'm going to share a few cards that I have shared here

before but when we are thinking of winter and snow,

they need to be shared again.

When you think of Snow and Flower Soft, nothing beats their Polar White Flower Soft for the perfect "snow" look to projects.

This first card uses a topper that is also by Flower Soft. These come all colored and ready to accent.

These stamps are by The Stamps of Life, gotta love a cute snowglobe and of course, some wonderful, fluffy Flower Soft snow.

These stamps are by JustRite stamps and behind that snowflake is a bed of Polar Ice Flower Soft.

This is another topper by Flower Soft with a fluffy little bear and some fluffy snow, both Polar White Flower Soft.

Clip Art and Digital

Gotta share a couple cards today. This one is using the Unscripted sketch for this week. I turned the sketch.

I purchased a set of clip art cards from Made by Janet's etsy store. LOVE the vintage feel of them. I printed them on a piece of textured cardstock that even adds to the vintage look. I did ink the edges with a brown Distress stamp pad to further the vintage look.

I am madly in love with this wonderful doily die from My Favorite Things and I thought it fit here pretty nice. I used some amazing Tim Holtz Kraft cardstock, I just love the shades of colors in this collection.

This is my Card Positioning Systems card for this week. I think it has to be the fastest card I have ever created!

I inserted a piece of digital patterned paper by Cosmo Cricket in a Microsoft Word document and resized it. Then I placed this cute little snowglobe digital element over the paper and printed them out at once. I printed them on the X-Press Copic paper, this stuff smooth like butter and the inks print wonderful on it.

The little banner is by Spellbinders and I stamped the Paper Smooches sentiment on that.

Now for a couple photos...

The bottom dog, Sadie, likes to cuddle under blankets and pillows so she burrowed under this pillow and the little dog, K.C., came along and got comfortable on top of this sandwich! Funny dogs!

This is a photo of the sunrise I caught the other day. I was out taking photos of something else and I realized that the sun rays made this pattern when I caught it just right.

Today is the day...

A new Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge starts

December 1st through December 15

This is how I decided to interpret the inspiration piece. I loved the filigree look of some of the pieces so I cut a piece using my Art Philosophy Close to My Heart Cricut cartridge.

I picked up the vase of yellow flowers by stamping this cut flower stamp by Paper Smooches. If you are familiar with this set of stamps, you will know that the flower comes with a smiley face in the middle. I didn't want my card to be quite that playful, so I but a piece of white paper to go in the middle of the flower and I colored that with Copic markers as well as coloring the flower with the markers. The leaves are in this set too, I just cut each one out.

CPS and Unscripted cards

First off, I get to share my Card Positioning Systems card for this week.

Stamping Bella is our sponsor! I loved this little cutie as soon as I saw her and I knew I wanted to color the flowers in red.

I kept the rest of the coloring to the image very simple to let the flowers shine.

Now, on to my Unscripted Sketches card for this week.

I have been downloading more and more digital papers and elements recently, it is fun to use them for cards. I use Microsoft Word and insert the elements onto a blank page. After I added the paper piece and the mug, I placed the mug over the paper so I could print them both at the same time. This is a set by Cosmo Cricket. There are so many great little elements in this set. The sentiment is a stamp by Paper Smooches.

It didn't snow, a bomb did not go off!!! We can only blame the two dogs! I had just walked in the door from the grocery store. I dropped a big package of 12 rolls of toilet paper on the floor to take to the bathroom when my hands were free and when I wasn't looking, our older dog dragged the package outside and proceeded to have a ball. I only wish I had a video of the event instead of just the aftermath!

As I was trying to quickly pick up all of the pieces so there wasn't more distruction, the little dog was going for a little more fun.

I was able to play along with this great Play Date Cafe challenge this week.

I found a free vintage image at The Graphics Fairy. I printed it out and used it on a tag. The tag is cut with my Cricut.

That wonderful, green doily piece in the background is cut with a Kreaxions 4-in-1 punch. I cut a circle and then punched around it, I love the look. The leaves are also a Kreaxions punch.

Next up, my Card Positioning Systems card for this week. Clearsnap was our sponsor again and this time we were to use one of their Rollograph wheels. I used two different ones on my card.

The butterfly postage piece is one of the images on one of the wheels. The text words on the other strips are from another wheel. I rolled this one on a piece of patterned paper and then sprayed it with Smooth Spritz. The green punched border is punched with a Kreaxions 4-in-1 punch.

And for a few photos...

I took these with my Hipstamatic camera on my phone. We were at a shopping center that has a huge ferris wheel. I love the different effects.

A Trigger and a Sketch

First off, a Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger.

This is the current Trigger. I love challenges so I made sure I got to play along with this one.

First of all, I loved the shape of the purse and then the dots arranged in the pattern. I didn't have a purse shape to cut with my Cricut but when I saw this adorable typewriter, I knew that would be the look I wanted.

This shape also cuts the piece of paper and it slips inside the cut out in the typewriter. The rub-on sentiment is by EAD Designs/Paper Smooches.

The keys in the typewriter are cut out with this cut but I wanted the keys to be more pronounced, so I punched circles in the colors in the Trigger and added them with foam tape. Smaller black circles were added on top of those and I coated them with Aleene's Paper Glaze.

Now for the Unscripted sketch for this week. I turned the sketch for my card.

This sketch has a Piggyback challenge to go with it and that is to use only cardstock. I did use tiny pieces of a BoBunny patterned paper though since it was the perfect color.

That wonderful doily shape is cut with the Art Philosophy Close to My Heart Cricut cartridge. The two layers of doily stamps are by Waltzing Mouse stamps.

New Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge

Yeah, it is time for another SPARKS challenge. I am so glad Kim started these, I am always up for a challenge of some kind.

This is the newest inspiration piece. Be sure to check out Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge page for all of the details. This runs from November 17th to November 30th and there are prizes to be won!

Here is my take on the challenge. I was inspired by the colors but also the placement of the elements in the photo. I knew I wanted a wonderful turquoise background and I knew that I needed at least one larger size bright green piece. I decided to go with snowflakes in rather unconventional colors because I really wanted to be able to have my card be winter/Christmas in theme and I wanted to use this cutie of a snowman. I just received this cute set from Paper Smooches and I want to use it a whole lot during the season.

Since I wanted snowflakes, I knew exactly where to go to get a variety of sizes. I pulled out my Art Philosophy Close to My Heart Cricut cartridge. This cartridge includes several snowflake shapes so I was set. If you notice, my little snowman has some Aleene's Paper Glaze added to his little scarf for some additional interest.

Christmas Trees and Owls

First up, my Unscripted sketches card. I turned the sketch for my card.

I used my Art Philosophy Close to My Heart Cricut cartridge. This cartridge cuts several card shapes and for this one it cuts out the three trees in the front of the card. I placed a white piece of cardstock behind those trees.

To go along with the sketch, I pleated a piece of Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker patterned paper from the Gingerbread Lane collection. I used my Martha Stewart scoreboard to makes my pleats. Across that I placed a sticker strip from the same paper collection. The little sentiment oval is also a sticker from the collection.

Dear Friend - Dear Mom

First off, a tag to a friend.

Moxie Fab has a challenge right now for several different themes. I wanted to go with the "girlfriend" theme celebrating National Girlfriends Day, Celebrating Relationships. I created a tag. Tags are something I don't often work with. For some reason I feel "tag" challenged but I don't know why since the format is smaller and that should be easier. The tag shape is cut with chipboard and the Art Philosophy Close to My Heart Cricut cartridge. I decided to emboss that with a Sizzix embossing folder with a woodgrain design. I highlighted the woodgrain print by rubbing it with a brown Distress stamp pad.

The circle with the butterfly cut out is a tag from the same Cricut cartridge. I cut this again a little smaller so I had a smaller butterfly to place in the cut out butterfly shape. The zig zag circle piece behind this is also cut with the same cartridge. The sentiment is a portion of a stamp by Printworks.

The Play Date Cafe inspiration piece for this week is irresistable!

Pink, Yellow and Gray!

Here is my card using the inspiration colors. My card turned out rather "girly" and "vintage" and I like it.

The little vintage cards are digital images from an Etsy store, Made by Janet.

I also want to share the Unscripted sketches card for this week.

I printed out a digital stamp by Hero Arts that I purchased at Two Peas in a Bucket. It comes all colored, I just needed to print it out and cut it out.

I added two colors of Ultra Fine Flower Soft to the flower for a fun accent.

I used a Kreaxions 4-in-1 punch for my punched border.

Gotta share some photos too...

It is a little late for Pumpkin Patch photos but I still wanted to share a couple cute ones. Is that joy or what!?

These guys are almost scary!

And, see the gray in the background? In the distance in the ocean and that is marine layer that was coming in so thick this evening. It gave the neatest feel to the patch.

Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge and Unscripted sketches

Today is the day...

Paper Smooches revealed another SPARKS challenge and this is it. You have until November 16th to play along for prizes.

And, here is my card using the SPARKS. I usually see a few different ways I would want to carry out a challenge like this but this is what I ended up with.

Here is what I took from this SPARKS inspiration photo.

I love the navy blue background.

I loved the orange leaves on the apples that were turned this way and that.

I love the cream colored apples that also looked a bit like circles.

I used the leaves that are on the acorn in the Falling For You Paper Smooches stamp set. I just stamped that part of that image several times on white X-Press Copic cardstock and colored them with two shades of orange Copic markers. I quickly cut these out.

To mimic the cream colored apples/circles, I cut a scallop circle from cream colored paper with a Spellbinders Nestabilities. On that I stamped this cute little sentiment. What I love about this stamp set is that you can mix and match the words to create your own greeting. And you can see I just had to add a tiny bit of bling!

I also wanted to share my Unscripted sketches card for this last week. Can I say I love this sketch!

This wonderful piece of patterned paper is from Authentique. I just used both sides of this piece that is called Brilliance. Gotta love a yellow/gold woodgrain print.

The flower, leaves and sentiment stamps are from Hero Arts. I placed a clear button in the middle of the flower. I cut the circle behind the flower with my Kreaxions circle cutter. You will never find a circle cutter that is easier to use.

Flower Soft's Let's Talk Turkey challenge

It's a challenge day at Flower Soft. The theme is "Let's Talk Turkey", or any other animal. Be sure to check out the challenge because there are prizes to be won.

I picked this digital stamp by A Day for Daisies. I loved the simplicity of it and I tried to stay with somewhat fall colors for my card. I liked that after I printed out the image, it required a very minimum amount of coloring.

To give it that irresistible finishing touch, I added a brand new color of Ultra Fine Flower Soft, the Ameythst, Diamond Range. This has a wonderful sparkle to it so my little thistles are just right. The sentiment is a stamp by Printworks and that wonderful, purple lacey label is a Spellbinder Nestabilities die.

Black and White photo challenge

Each month the Nikki Sivils blog issues a challenge and there are chances to win prizes.

For the next month, the challenge is to use black and white photos. I found the perfect photos of our youngest grandson to turn into b/w. Can I say I love this piece of red patterned paper! This is a print I would want to use over and over since I am madly in love with anything red.

I cut this design from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge by Close to My Heart. It is designed to use to create a flower but to me it was the perfect accent for a "boy" layout. I placed it over a piece of Core'dinations embossed cardstock. I love the letters and numbers in the paper.

I created a little collage of elements to finish off the layout. The half circle is a banner cut from the same cartridge as is the little tag with the cut out heart. The other patterned papers and the alphabet sticker letters are by Nikki Sivils too.

And, to share a few photos...

We visited the San Diego Safari Park recently and one of the highlights was viewing the baby elephants. There were several and this one was only three weeks old.

What was especially fun was the group that was carrying for the baby. Not only was mom close at all times but there were two other elephants in various sizes who were just as concerned.

Pumpkin, Tiggers and Hot Air Balloons

No, those things don't always go together but for my post today they do.

I wanted to share a couple older projects with you since they fit so well for the time of year we are in. I have shared these first two before but I hope you will like seeing them again.

The card is so simple! Just some circles, a pumpkin stamp in one of the circles and SRM sticker sentiment in another.

And, since our grandson was beyond adorable in this cute costume, I wanted to share this layout again. It uses Nikki Sivils papers.

And, this card is brand new. It uses some Bella Blvd papers and the hot air balloon is a die cut I cut out. I am a fan of anything woodgrain right now, in any color and love cloud designs too.

I cut the top of the hot air balloon off and then added it back with foam tape so there is dimension to the card.

And for a few photos...

Our new little girl! She even has a name now. There are too many of us voting so this took awhile. She will have been in our home one week, tomorrow. Let me introduce K. C.!

She plays hard but then has to stop.

She loves running around the yard with our other do. They are becoming great friends.

First, my ornament inspiration!...

I got to play with the ANGELIC set of stamps. I picked up this wooden heart ornament at Michaels in all of their new products for Christmas projects.

I wanted to keep my stamped image very simple in the coloring so I used some of my very lightest Copic markers and kept the color combo very limited. When I had it all colored, I sprayed it with some Smooch Spritz. Plus I added some gold paint for the decoration at the neck line of their little outfits.

I had downloaded a free piece of sheet music from Crafty Secrets and printed that out on white cardstock. Next I took one of the stencils from Layers of Color and sponged it with brown ink. I also sprayed this with the Smooch Spritz. The outside rim of the wooden heart was painted with a pink paint and also spritzed so it wasn't too pink.

I also wanted to create a card using the same set of stamps so you could see more uses for the stamps.

I loosely used the sketch for this week at Card Patterns for my card. The cardstock is two sided so I just used both sides. That rub-on sentiment is from EAD Designs/Paper Smooches.

Again, I wanted to keep the image very simple in the coloring so I slightly colored the angel and then sprayed the entire image with the Smooch Spritz and cut it out. LOVE the glimmer from the Spritz. I embossed the kraft colored corner with my Cuttlebug and the pink patterned paper is from Echo Park. The corner is punched one time with a 4-in-1 Kreaxions punch.

Child's Play

First off, I want to share my Unscripted Sketches card for this week.

I pulled out some brand new stamps and a wonderful Spellbinders Nestabilities die.

Don't you just love this stamp of these kids in a parade? I stamped it with black, embossed it with clear embossing powder and then sprayed it with colors. Same with the number strip.

I created this fun card for the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog. I used the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge and some My Lil' Monster papers and stickers.

In this bottom square, I created a little collage of some of the stickers that go along with that paper collection.

These stickers are in the set too.

This little cutie came to our house this weekend. Little Miss No-Name!!! Why is it so hard to find the perfect name?

Not only are the Amethyst and the Emerald that I used on some of the leaves amazing colors but, wow, on the great splash of glitter that is in them! I used an extra set of the front gate so that that part of the image was layered.

The acorn fell from the tree!

This is the newest Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge. I knew the moment I saw it what I wanted to create using it. (Remember you can play along with the challenge to win stamps, you have until November 2nd)

The first thing I saw was "simplicity". Just a tall tree and a little car. I figured I could create what was in my mind with some woodgrain patterned paper and Kim's adorable little acorn stamp. The patterned paper is by Bella Blvd., I just love it.

I could have used a few different color combinations on the acorn but I wanted to stay real close to the colors of that super cute van. The colors leaves are coated with Aleene's Paper Glaze for an epoxy look. I created a little banner so I could add a cute sentiment.

And, I need to share some fun news...

I just got the new issue of Just Cards in the mail and my card is on the cover!!! The little The Cat's Pajamas stamp of the chicken in the bowl.

Clouds and Flowers

First off, my Card Positioning Systems card for this week.

Clearsnap and the new Stephanie Barnard stamp pads are our sponsor this week. I pulled out some Paper Smooches stamps to create my card.

The cloud stamp was stamped on a piece of "text" print digital patterned paper. It is from a set at 2 Peas in a Bucket. To use the stamp pads, I used my blending tool and colored the clouds and the yellow portion of the little scooter with the ink in the stamp pads. The rest of the scooter was colored with Copic markers. These new pads are the best colors.

Next up is my Unscripted sketches card for this week and it has a piggyback challenge to it to use fabric. The use of the fabric also fits the Moxie Fab challenge to use Texture.

I pulled out some fabric I had purchased with these adorable little flowers all over it. I used Mod Podge and glued three flowers to white cardstock and left that to dry. When it was dry, I cut the flowers out. The cardstock helped make the flowers more sturdy, they were easier to cut out and it helped stop the fabric from fraying.

Notice that red strip going down the page? I punched it with one of my brand new Kreaxions 4-in-1 punches.

And for a couple photos...

We took a trip to the San Diego Safari Park last weekend. Kids get in free in October. We knew there was a new baby gorilla there so that was one of our first stops. The mom with her baby came out for just a few minutes. I think the mom doesn't let the baby go very far away from her so it was so cute to watch her carry it around. It was just born in June so it is very young.

The mom got sight of something in this tree that she wanted so she walked over, stood up and reached for what she was after. It was neat to see her walking around. If you are in that area, this park is a wonderful place to visit and to see the animals in something very similar to their natural surroundings.

A stamp here and a stamp there

Both cards I get to share in this post use stamps! I love stamping.

First off, my Card Positioning Systems card for this week. Want2Scrap BLING is our sponsor. I cut the scallop circle with my Cricut and the ring of black rhinestones are a perfect fit.

The flower stamp was stamped with black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder and then I very simply colored it with Copic markers.

Now on to my Unscripted sketch card. I turned the sketch on it's side. I just love this sketch and could see using it several more times.

I combined a few Hero Arts stamps for my design. The circle/wreath was inked with a couple colors of Distress stamp pads.

I stamped the flower twice on patterned paper. The top one was added with foam tape for added dimension and I made clips into the petals to add even more dimension.

And, to share a couple photos...

Our puppy, Sadie! She is a year and a half now and sooooo cute.

My husband built this wonderful arbor. I picked up the birdcage at Ross and put plants in it, the little lights are solar.

A Yippee Skippee Day

Do you know what this little banner means!? I get to be part of the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge Design Team for the next few months. You might have already gathered that I love challenges and that is just what a "SPARK" is, a piece of inspiration that should spark a creative idea.

This is the newest Paper Smooches Spark challenge and of course, I wanted to play along.

I thought the way the little images were scattered on the page, it looked like leaves falling. I used the newest FREE digital images at Paper Smooches. One thing that is cool about a digital image is that you can print it out in pretty much any size. All I did was open a Microsoft Word document and inserted the leaves, one by one. I resized the leaf a few times and printed them on plain white cardstock and a piece of red patterned paper and a piece of yellow patterned paper. For the white cardstock I used the x-Press Copic Marker paper. Not only does this paper would amazingly well with the Copic markers for coloring and blending but the computer prints wonderfully on it.

I printed the digital sentiment directly on the white cardstock. The leaves were cut out and then placed on the white cardstock that I had sprayed a couple colors of the Smooch Spritz by Clearsnap. The white leaves were colored with Copic markers.

Another reason for a happy post is that The Cat's Pajamas stamps was the sponsor this last week at Card Positioning Systems blog. Is this guy the cutest?

After I colored the stamped image, I sprayed the entire piece with a Smooch Spritz in a shiny silver color. It really made a nice finish to the image.

And for a couple photos...

We got a huge downpour of rain this last week and the sky the day after was nothing but big, fluffy clouds. I had to take photos, of course. I used my Hipstamatic app on my phone.

And, this beauty is in my garden. I so love fuchias.

Some Wheat and Some Sand

First off, I wanted to play with the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger.

Does this ever look amazing?

I thought the wheat stamp reminded me of the tall glasses, I stamped them in white to go along with the whip cream and ice cream in the glasses.

After I stamped the wheat in the white ink and embossed it with white embossing powder, I sprayed the background with two colors of Smooch Spritz. The white embossing acted as a resist. One of the colors is a golden yellow and that reminded me of the Trigger colors.

The band across the card and the circle with the sentiment are both colored with more spray colors.

Next off, I wanted to show off what I did with the Unscripted sketch this last week.

The sketches can be used for any craft project, I thought this one would work so great for a layout. The zig zag circle was cut with my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. The papers and stickers are by Nikki Sivils.

Did someone say "challenge"?

That is what Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge is about. It is something like a sketch, meant to give you a launching place for inspiration on creating a card or project.

Is this the cutest little photo ever? (details on what it is and where it is from are available at Paper Smooches)

Here is my card using this "Spark" piece.

The first thing that I noticed was the green, faded background so I created that by rubbing the edges of my white cardstock with a blending tool and a green stamp pad.

I created a little "ruffle" edge with some stamped flowers. I just stamped the flower a few times and colored the petals the same as my main flower and then cut them so that just the petals showed looking similar to a ruffle.

I also loved the little tag hanging from the string and the clothespin accent. I punched out a tag shape from patterned paper, stamped the sentiment on the tag and then let it hang on my card with some green embroidery floss and a tiny, green clothespin.

I thought that this one little flower sitting all by itself on the side of my card looked a bit like that one cute little onesie. The pinks helped me stay with the color combo and the little rhinestone made it even more girly!

World Card Making Day 2011

When I first heard a few years ago, that there was a day set aside for card making, I couldn't believe it! A day just for all of us who enjoy playing with paper and other supplies to create cards.

I pulled out my supplies to create a card just for the day. The card base is cut with my Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. This is the cartridge that has a number of card base choices and this one also cuts out a window in the front.

The label shape with the leaf sprig is designed to fit inside of the hole that the cartridge cuts. I placed a piece of vellum behind the opening for a really neat look. I cut the label piece out three times. Once in the woodgrain pattern, once in a thin chipboard to help the leaf sprig stronger and again in the green pattern for the leaves. Then I layered these together. The little round tag is a die cut from PaperTrey, Inc.

Another card that I want to share today is this one using lots of Bella Blvd. papers and some of their matching alphabet stickers.

I sanded the letters a little bit. I like that the sanding makes them a little distressed.

And the last one, using "text" prints as the accents. I did emboss the tan cardstock that is the card base and the black lacey piece is cut with my Cricut.

The label piece is actually Tim Holtz tape. I just filled a piece of white cardstock with strips of the tape and then cut this out with a Spellbinder Nestabilities. It is also spritzed with some spray colors. The flower is actually two layers of flowers that I cut from a piece of BasicGrey patterned paper.

First off, I get to share my Card Positioning Systems card with you.

Clearsnap is our sponsor this week and we all were able to play with their Design Adhesive supplies. It is always fun to use something that takes you "out of your box" a bit and this was one of those.

The flourish design is pressed onto the white cardstock, it is clear and covered with adhesive. Now you can either add glitter to that or foil. Of course, the glitter only sticks where the adhesive is and the result is a gorgeous design. Easy as can be! The label shape is cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.

I just had to give this great, Card Patterns sketch a try. I can see using this over and over and having each card look different.

I decided to use buttons for the four circles you see in the sketch. The sentiment is a rub-on by EAD Designs/Paper Smooches. I LOVE these things, I have all of them and use them constantly.

The label shape is cut with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. The front label has the leaves cut out of it and then I matted that with a shadow of the label cut just a bit larger.

Stay tuned, I plan to have a couple cards up for World Card Making day on Oct 1st! I can't even believe they would have a special day on the calendar just for us card makers!!!

I have a couple fun cards to share with you today.

First up, my Unscripted sketch card. I LOVE this sketch. I thought there were so many possiblities with this one.

Notice the card shape!? Being able to cut card shapes was my main reason for purchasing the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge. There are sooooo many choices on this Cricut cartridge. This one cut the shaped, bottom edge.

These wonderful Bella Blvd papers were sitting on my desk. I had even cut out the circle frame using my Kreaxions circle cutter for another project and then didn't use it and it just fit in here perfectly. The little layered sun is cut with my Cricut.

I love color combo challenges and this is one I had to try out from Play Date Cafe.

This color combo did not include brown but it just seemed like I needed to add it here, maybe it is like a neutral black. And, again, I used my Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the card shape.

Is this little owl the cutest? It is a stamp by Inky Antics and of course, I colored it with Copic markers. I most often use the Copic X-Press white cardstock to go along with the Copic markers, they work amazingly well together. The stamp came with the little branch that the owl was sitting on but I added to that a cut branch using the Cricut. I cut the branch with the leaves from green cardstock and then cut just the branch from brown cardstock and layered them.

And, I have to share a couple photos...

Do you see that star shaped cloud? I was just exiting the freeway and looked over to see the cloud shape so I quickly found a place to stop and get a photo. We have farm land all around us so that is what you see in the foreground. Of course, I used my Hipstamatic camera on my phone for these.

We had so many beautiful cloud formations on this day so I had to stop to capture this one too. This strawberry field is about four blocks from our house. Our county grows strawberries everywhere!

Love Fall colors

Summer is my favorite season, but I love the colors of FALL! I could probably create everything in those colors. Sooo...first off, I want to share my Card Positioning Systems card with you.

The sponsor for this week is EAD Designs. They offer stickers and rub-ons. I picked these adorable "fall" themed stickers. I put each one on white cardstock and then cut out the shape. For the way I wanted to use them, I wanted them to be a little more sturdy.

I couldn't resist playing along with Colour Q this week and these colors are so NOT Fall, really, but I wanted to give them a try!

I turned to my trusty Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge by Close to My Heart for my design.

I cut the same shape four times on four different colors of cardstock. The little flower looking middle piece gets cut out so I just switched the colors around.

And, I feel in LOVE with this Cardabilities sketch so I gave that a try. I think I could use this same sketch over and over since it is the perfect way to just pick up scraps from my table and create a card.

The leaf is from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. Four simple strips of paper from Echo Park worked wonderfully.

I cut an outline and then cut a full leaf and glued them together. I filled in the open areas in the outline with Crackle accents by Ranger. Once that was dry, I brushed over it with a brown stamp pad to help show up the crackle lines. The black flourish and the golden scallop border are both cut with the Cricut cartridge.

We are going to soccer games these days and so here are a couple photos from the other day. The littlest one is not on a team but he loves kicking that ball around. More pics from my Hipstamatic camera.

Yes, I am sharing projects using sketches cause I LOVE them!

First off, the Unscripted sketch for this week, I LOVE this sketch.

There are alot of ways to use this sketch but I pulled out my amazing Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. The main reason I wanted this cartridge is that there are many card shapes to cut. Many of the cards have an option to cut out a shaped window. I picked a card with a window and just cut it smaller then I would want if I was going to use it as a card base. Then I only used the front portion of the card with the window. This shape has a bookplate that is the same shape as the window so I just cut one that is smaller so it would fit inside.

My flower is also cut with that cartridge. I cut the top flower out of thin chipboard. It cut wonderfully with the Cricut, I just used the Multi cut button so it went around twice. Next I painted this with this amazing silver Crackle Paint by Ranger! What a cool look! The bottom flower is just the shadow button of the same flower.

Next I went to the Play Date Cafe color combo for this week and looked up the new Card Pattern sketch and put those together.

I did take a few liberties with the sketch as you can see but I think that is what using a sketch is about. I knew I just had to use that great color combo from Play Date Cafe.

This gorgeous label shape is in the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge. I cut the one fancy layer from yellow cardstock, matted that with a white oval layer and then cut a slightly larger oval layer from Core'dinations glitter cardstock from the light purple. NOW, I pulled out some fun supplies. I coated the yellow and white layers with the Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint by Ranger and then accented portions of the cut shape with Glitter Fashion paint by Tulip. That compliments the glitter cardstock nicely.

(I don't sell the Art Philosophy cartridge nor do I get anything for telling you about it but wowie do I love this thing!)

They both got gift certificates as gifts so you know what that means, SHOPPING!

I should have used this technique for every year, getting down likes or traits or important information, etc.

Flowers, Pearls, Numbers and Buttons

I get to share a couple projects that include all of those goodies.

My Card Positioning Systems card for this week shows off the flowers and the pearls. Our sponsor is Want2Scrap bling. You really need to check out the wonderful goodness this company offers, especially is you love bling. The pearls and rhinestones shapes are meant to match Spellbinders dies.

I used a scallop oval Spellbinders Nestabilities and an oval one to fit inside the scallop one. The oval of green pearls fit in exactly. The flower is from Recollections.

This is the Unscripted sketch for this week. I love this sketch, it was so fun to use.

I have a brand new Cricut cartridge by Close to My Heart, Art Philosophy. I LOVE this thing. I can see that I will be using it many, many times.

The little row of numbers is a border from that cartridge. This sketch had an additional challenge of using numbers on the card.

This is what we did for Memorial Day. It was really brave of our youngest grandson to jump into his uncles arms! I used my Hipstamatic app on my phone for the fun, old fashioned effect.

A cool photo of our puppy dog too. I love how this film/lens combination is a black and white with a tiny hint of color.

Between Summer and Fall

First off, I am going to share my Card Positioning Systems card with you.

Unity stamps is our sponsor and I picked this adorable little beach chair scene, something that is just right for summer. We have been warmer here this week so this is just perfect.

I wanted to go with the idea of "less is more" so I didn't color in my image except for some specific little places. After stamping the chair and umbrella, I masked them by stamping the image again on copy paper and cutting that out. By placing that cut out piece over the original stamped piece, I created a mask that protected the first stamping and then sprayed my paper with some Smooch spritz, so the background is colored with the spray.

Since back to school and fall are right around the corner, I also wanted to share this little card that I created with a My Favorite Things stamp. I just love these little Pure Innocense people.

The houndstooth piece behind the little girl is a sheer piece by KI Memories and it comes in a shape. I just cut off one corner of that shaped piece. I thought it made a fun accent.

Anything but a Card Blog Hop

Since the challenge is Anything but a Card. I created a little tag with a pocket to hold a gift card.

My tag is about 4 1/2" tall. I used my brand new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to cut the tag. I used the card function so it cuts the tag with the little flap to glue over to make the pocket.

I stamped the fall leaves image with black Versafine ink on white cardstock and embossed that with clear embossing powder. Next I colored it with Copic markers. I cut this out in a circle shape with my Kreaxions circle cutter and then cut a smaller circle inside of the bigger one, making sure not to cut through the image. I loved that this formed a ring around my image.

Of course, I added some Flower Soft to give just that right amount of pizzazz to the image. I mixed the colors on the acorn top and on the leaves.

Stickers and Stamps

First off, I want to share my Unscripted sketch card with you. Here is the sketch.

I really like the sketch this week. It was simple and fun. Part of the fun comes with the Little Yellow Bicycle supplies.

The fun flowers are stickers. I just love this particular collection of papers and stickers.

My next card represents some "play time"! I love to experiment. I placed a stencil down on plain white cardstock and sprayed this with the blue Chalkboard Glimmer Mist. After I finished spraying, I realized that I had lots of spray on the entire stencil so I carefully picked it up and turned it over onto another piece of plain white cardstock. All of that extra blue ink was now on my paper. Next, with the stencil in place, I sprayed it with yellow so that they yellow Chalkboard Glimmer Mist colored the vine design in the stencil. I just loved the resulting combination. I also colored white seam binding with the same yellow spray.

The little butterflies are a stamp by Inkadinado. I thought stamping them with the solid black was a good contrast.

I am having a ball with my Hipstamatic camera app on my phone. I just stand and keep changing the lens and films! We went to walk around our harbor the other day so I had to capture some photos of the boats.

Little birdies and a Yellow flower

First off, I wanted to share the card I created to go with one of the Sketch challenges at Moxie Fab

I love to use sketches, so I am usually up for a challenge. This challenge at Moxie Fab goes along with Card Ideas Week.

I pulled out this very "sunny" piece of patterned paper by Little Yellow Bicycle. The sketch has the three banner looking pieces on it so I used one of my Kreaxions punches and made little decorative banners.

The reverse pattern on this particular piece of paper has these cute little quails all over it so I just cut out a strip of them to march across my card.

I also want to share my Card Positioning Systems card for this week. Our sponsor is Clearsnap and I used Smooch Spritz. I love spray colors so this is a product that I really like.

To get my pattern, I used a stencil by Layers of Color. You can see that the spray color has a silver/metallic look to it. I also cut a flower with a My Favorite Things die from white cardstock and sprayed it so that it is a great, metallic golden yellow. I love how completely this spray colored my cardstock.

And for a few photos...

I used the Hipstamatic app on my phone for these. My grandson loves playing in this swing and so as I pushed the swing, I had my phone in my hand to snap these. If you recall from my last post, this app is meant to give old fashioned looking photos.

Coffee and Clouds

I need to share my Card Positioning Systems card for this last week.

The Stamps of Life was our sponsor for this week and I picked this really cool coffee set of stamps to play with. The set comes with this large coffee cup and then a variety of stamps to use on the front of the cup and other extra words.

My main coloring was done with Copic markers and then I used a stamp from a "tree" set to repeatedly stamp in the cream colored areas to stamp a texture. The doily shapes are cut with my Cricut using the Storybook cartridge.

And, I need to share some fun stuff...

I have been playing with a new app on my phone - the Hipstamatic camera. This app is an old fashioned kind of camera. It comes with a variety of lens and films, these can be mixed and matched and you can also buy more lens and films. I have had so much fun playing around with what my favorite lens and films are.

This camera also works in that you are taking the photo with this camera. Some other camera apps work that you can use any photo you take and alter it.

This photo was taken with the Lucifer VI Lens and the Kodot XGrizzled film.

I have tried many combinations and I am learning what my favorite are. I will be sharing more photos in the future.

A card, layout and some ZOO pics!

First off, the Unscripted sketch for this week!!! Try to play along.

This weeks sketch has an additional challenge with it and that is to use buttons. I pulled out one of Nikki Sivils, Scrapbookers newest pieces of patterned paper for my card.

The extra challenge for buttons was so easy since I used Nikki Sivils self adhesive buttons! They come with the thread on them, making them look like you sewed each one on! The biggest circle I accented with a brad from Nikki Sivils. The sentiment is a stamp by Lawn Fawn.

I wanted to share this layout I recently completed too. Our youngest grandson had a little hospital stay some time ago so I created a collage of some of the photos, especially showing when Grandma and Grandpa helped keep him occupied since he couldn't go far with all of those tubes, etc. The black, circle piece is cut with the Cricut as are the title letters. The patterned paper is by Nikki Sivils and the background cardstock is Core'dinations. It comes with the circles embossed on it already, I just anded it a bit.

And for a few photos...

These guys were my favorite find one our recent little trip to the San Diego zoo.

For most of them, it was nap time. They each had their own tree and it completely cracked me up how they curled up in a ball and slept sitting up, with their head propped up against the tree.

Is this a face you could LOVE!?

Our grandson got ahold of the little zoo map as we entered the park and made it his mission for the entire day to keep that map handy. This was SERIOUS business. Here he is, nose to nose with a gorilla.

And, here is out little adventurer with his new ZOO hat!

Winter and Summer all in one post!

First of all I really need to give a little movie review! We went to see The Help and I so recommend it. It is wonderfully done with some amazing actors just be prepared because it is also emotional. We were so excited for it to come out and it sure did not disappoint.

Now, onto some cards.

First up, my Card Positioning Systems card for this week. My Favorite Things stamps is the sponsor. I LOVE their stamps so this makes me very happy. It was also pretty fun to work with a "winter/cold looking" card in the middle of summer.

That wonderful, decorative, die shape is a Spellbinders Nestabilities.

Next up, my Unscripted Sketches card for this week. Now talk about a challenge!!! But since I love challenges, I was up for it.

I pulled out this amazing collection of supplies by Little Yellow Bicycle. I LOVE these papers, die cuts and stickers. The punched bottom corners are done with a Kreaxions 4-in-1 punch.

Doesn't this combination just make you happy?

And, I also found some time to play with a challenge that I have never played with before, Cas-ual Fridays.

I felt like this challenge gave me permission to just create something simple and it was so fun.

I thought the combination of this doily stamp and the leaf sprig was fun.

And for a few photos...

I mentioned the other day that we took a little trip to San Diego to go to the zoo. To make our trip a little more interesting for our 3 year old grandson, we took the train there. He wasn't supposed to be running but of course, he is cute in about anything he does, so Grandma had to get a photo!

If you have never been in the train depot in San Diego, I wanted to share how gorgeous it is. These wonderful tile walls are all around the inside of the station.

Butterflies, Flowers and some Flower Soft

I want to share a couple cards with you today, one card created with the Unscripted sketch and one with the Card Positioning Systems sketch.

First up, the Unscripted sketch.

I recently won a great digital pak from Jen Martakis. It is available at 2 peas. I feel in love with the houndstooth patterns. I opened a document in Word and inserted a piece of the black paper and a piece of the yellow paper and then overlapped them so that when I printed this out, I got a paper that had both colors on it.

The butterfly is cut with my Cricut Expression using the Home Decor cartridge. This cartridge cut a black shadow image and then a pretty yellow layer.

Next, my CPS card. The sponsor this week is Flower Soft. The white scallop piece is cut with the Cricut Expressions using the Storybook cartridge and the little leaves are from the same cartridge.

I just love what a little bit of Flower Soft adds to a card but here, I also used some flowers from one of the toppers. These flowers punch out and are ready to use. A little bit of Flower Soft is added to the middles of the flowers.

And for a fun photo...

We made a little trip to San Diego last week and on the first night we walked over to the Little Italy section of town for dinner. I captured a photo quick on my new iPhone and then altered it on an app that I had downloaded, Perfect Photo. I have had so much fun playing with my photos and with some other apps that I have downloaded. I'll tell you about those as I use them.
