Guess what we did today and a layout to share!

My granddaughter has very curly hair and over the years, the easiest thing to do with it was to put it in braids. Her mom took her for a "grown up" haircut and some lessons on managing all of the curls! She is so proud of her new look! It was fun to capture a few photos. I wanted to use these Graphic 45 papers so this seemed like the time to use them.

I punched out one of the circle designs from the paper and created a little flower accent to help with a more "girly" look.

And, now, can you guess what we did today????

See that big smile with a big hole in it??? Riley was determined that that loose tooth was going to come out today and then he actually posed for a photo. His most recent MO has been to hide or make faces when he sees the camera!

And, with some amazing spring-like weather, Dathan got a taste of playing in the backyard. The boys had the balls out so that was right down his alley! Here he is yelling at the boys, too cute!

Totally Crazy!!!

Do you have any idea what these amazing pieces of artwork are????? It has to do with having extra time on my hands!!!

The answer is: they are crazy photographs of the oncoming lights of traffic on the freeway!!!!

My husband and I were on a long roadtrip and I had a brand new camera in my hands. I was having so much fun playing with settings and trying to see what kind of photos I could capture from the car when the sun started going down. I quickly discovered that I could capture amazing color combinations and patterns from the oncoming traffic. The most effective were the big rigs that would go by because they sometimes have so many extra lights on them. Oh yes, not to mention that when riding in a car, it is almost impossible to keep the camera steady! It all worked together for some fun shots.

More PaperTrey, Ink goodness

If you remember from Sunday's post, PaperTrey, Ink is the sponsor for this week at Card Postioning Systems blog. Do you know that saying, "I have fallen and I can't get up"? Well, as stamper knows that saying this way, "I have started stamping and I can't stop"!!! These stamps are fun and there are so many different kinds of things you can do with them so I just set out to create some more examples.

If you take a look at the border stamps that I have used to create my backgrounds, you will see that they aren't very large but because they are clear and you attach them to a clear acrylic block, it is pretty easy to position them. That is how it is then pretty easy to create a larger piece because you can line them up.

The flower on the above card was from a different set of stamps by PaperTrey, Ink but I so love this sunflower and it seemed to fit well here.

This houndstooth circle stamp is probably my favorite out of all of them. I stamped it with black and embossed it so the black was more intense and then these were just punched out with a scallop circle punch.

If you look closely, you can see the subtle background that was created with the tone on tone stamping over the yellow paper.

Again, with one of the border stamps, I created a larger background piece and that was accented with red Stickles in the dots.

The circle was stamped with black on the green paper, I colored the flower and leaves with copic markers.
Now this card represents the fourth, different border stamp in this same set. Again, you can see that it is pretty easy to line these up. I colored the dots in this one with a red Copic marker.

The circle stamp was stamped with black ink and embossed. That makes the black portions more intense and then the background was colored with a red Copic marker.

CPS sketch #104 and PaperTrey, Ink

This is my card to go with sketch #104 for CPS. Later this week, I am going to post some other cards I created with these stamps because they are just so cool and fun to play with.

Can you see the very subtle stamped images on the white background and on the Berry Sorbet Perfect match cardstock behind the circle design? I wanted to fill the background without overpowering my other designs. The main design are stamped and embossed with white embossing powder so that they were more intense. The white dots are White 3-D Fashion Paint by Tulip. This comes in a very handy container making it so easy to use and it makes for such a great, simple accent.

It's about CUPCAKES and SKETCHES

Cupcakes are so the rage right now but it would also seem that using sketches for creating cards and layouts are also the rage. There are so many great sites working with sketches and so I picked three to help me create my cards with, you guessed it, my new stamps from Hero Arts!!!

Card Postioning Systems blog sketch #103 is one that I just love so this is my third card this week that I created using this same sketch. I might have to do even more with it. It just works! I thought the cherry on the cupcake fit well with this Graphic 45 paper.

Can you see the big chunks of glitter on the frosting? I picked up this great glitter from Impress Rubber Stamps and it looks like I coated it with sugar. It was actually covered completely with Aleene's Paper Glaze and then the glitter was sprinkled on that. The nice thing about this Paper Glaze is it goes on rather thick and it stays exactly where you put it, it does not flow out of the lines and it dries with a 3-D look. It holds glitter perfectly. The cherry has a 3-D look too because after I colored it with a Copic marker, it was coated with the Paper Glaze.

A brand new sketch site is Card Patterns #2. Of course I had to give that a try too for the above card. I used another cupcake in this same set by Hero Arts.

This cupcake is colored with Copic markers and the frosting has a complete coat of this pink glitter Fashion 3-D paint. The dots are white Fashion 3-D paint.

Now for a card that uses the 2 Sketches 4 You Kazan's sketch #20. The flourish stamp by Hero Arts fit just perfectly.

The cupcake is colored with Copic markers and accented with swirls of the Aleene's Paper Glaze as well as the cherry being coated with that too. The white dots are white Fashion 3-D paint.

Valentines Roses and a Kiss Kiss card

Yes, for Valentines Day I received a gorgeous bouquet of roses from the cutest 9 year old and 6 year old boys in the world!!! (I am NOT prejudice) The colors are so amazing and I figured I needed to get a photo so I could share some of the goodness.

I have so much wonderful paper in my stash to use so I thought it was time to pull out this great Graphic 45 paper and use it for a fun card.

I don't remember where I saw this first, but I just had to copy the idea - my Martha Stewart border punch using black cardstock! YUM!

Here is a close-up peek at my fun flowers. They are punched from another pattern of the Graphic 45 papers. Punches, machine sewing, paper distressing, inking with stamp pads, buttons and brads created these cuties.

I just had to share another "coffee" photo with you. My husband and I ordered two different drinks on this stop at a coffee shop and both cups were just amazing in the way they decorated them. I didn't know anyone actually decorated coffee drinks like this in real life!!! It was hard to destroy them by drinking them!!! Good thing I had my camera close.

I have some personal exciting news too!!! I found out my card that I posted here a couple days ago was selected by 2 Sketches 4 You are the Card of the Week! LOVE good news

I wanted to share with you my card for Card Positioning Systems card for this week. It is sketch #103.
The yellow for the card base is from CutCardStock.com and it is a WONDERFUL Malmero Perle' in Mangue (yellow). The White piece that was embossed and stamped on is Curious Iridescent in Cryogen White. Let me tell you, you WANT an entire package of the Cryogen White. It is wonderful to stamp on, it is soft and has a slight sparkle to it. It also embosses just plain wonderful! I am always looking for a good paper to stamp on so I wanted to be sure to pass this good stuff onto you.
The "with Love" part on the bottom of the white paper is a border Cuttlebug embossing plate. With those letters raised, I brushed over them with a black Fluid Chalk stamp pad to that they were emphasized. I also brushed over the white piece with that same black pad. This was then stamped with this amazing dot stamp by PaperTreyInk using a yellow Momento stamp pad.
The butterfly is cut with a Cuttlebug die. Then this is a 2-step die which means that the shape comes with it's own matching embossing plates. I picked the "dot" embossing. I used the side where the dots "go inward". I rubbed over this with a few different Fluid Chalk stamp pads, some yellows and a black that is focused on the edges. I used little black buttons to decorate the butterfly and yellow rhinestones were placed on each of the buttons for some added bling.

Happy "HEART" day and a Blog Hop Giveaway!

Can we ever get enough hearts??? I thought today was the perfect day to share this fun find with you. We stopped at a coffee house and when my cup of coffee came, I had to run and get my camera before we could even take a sip!
How cute is this? The first photo is my altered version. I had some fun in my photo editing program and this made me think it would be fun to share it will all of my friends today.

2 Sketches 4 You and snow pics

So, since I love sketches, I thought I should play with Laura's Sketch #19 at 2 Sketches 4 You blog for this week plus I just received a package this week from Cornish Heritage Farms and this gave me a great reason to try out one of the stamps. I used a tree stamp by Kim Hughes from the Spring Trees set.
I stamped the tree with Versafine black ink and then colored it with Copic Markers. The middles of the flowers are dots of Pearl White Metallic Fabric Dimensional Paint by FolkArt/Plaid. The card base is Bazzill's embossed dot paper and I am SOOOOO loving what a cool card that makes.

My husband and I were able to drive through a good portion of Oregon in January and so we drove up to Mt. Ashland the day after a snow fall and I just have to share a few photos that I took. Let me tell you I took a million since I live in Southern California and snow is never part of our everyday life! Plus I just had to give my NEW Canon 50D a good try out!

In the photo below, the sun was out and so the snow was falling off of the trees and it looked just like it was snowing right then. I was able to catch that "fall" of snow.

CPS #102 and PaperTrey

The party continues at Card Positioning Systems blog and there are more sponsors this week and more prizes. The sponsor that I was able to play with for this week was PaperTrey ink. WOWIE! Check them out if you haven't.
There were TWO things that totally stood out when I first opened my package.
1. The weight and feel of the cardstock. It is thick and velvety
2. The completely fun and unexpected color combo. I wouldn't have put these colors together and yet it was just plain fun to work with the papers, stamp pads, ribbons and stamps - Ripe Avocado, Raspberry Fizz, Dark Chocolate and Vintage Cream.
I just had to create some cards to show off these supplies. This first card, above and below, is my card using the CPS sketch 102 for this week.

I stamped the flower, one each in two different sizes, colored them with Copic markers, coated some of the petals with Clear Paper Glaze by Aleene’s®/Tulip for a 3-D and epoxy look and then cut them both out.

For the fun dot design on my card base, one of the sets of dots is the outline of a dot, there is another set that is solid dots. I stamped both and then coated the solid dots with the same Clear Paper Glaze – Aleene’s®/Tulip.

For this card, I stamped the outline dots stamp with the Raspberry Fizz ink and stamped solid dots on the brown paper with the Vintage Cream ink. This kit came with stamps of dots of many sizes and lots of word choices.

For this card, the flower was stamped repeatedly over the cream colored cardstock with the Ripe Avocado ink and over that I stamped some mini dots in the same ink. Then each flower was colored in with several shades of Copic Markers.

A portion of each of the flowers were accented with a Metallic Pearl 3-D fashion paint.

This card is very simple. I stamped two different sizes of the dots on the cream colored cardstock and then added the papers in strips with the word phrase in the middle section.

Now, let me tell you a bit about some of their cardstocks. In the example below I used three different pieces of Metallic papers.
These papers LOVE being embossed and I used my Cuttlebug embossing plates on this card. I just wish you could see the little bit of sparkle that is in these papers. They really make for a fun card.

For this embossed piece, the paper I used is the Curious Iridescent and I brushed over the raised areas of the embossing with Fluid Chalk stamp pads. I also outlined the word "thanks" with Tulips Glitter 3-D Fashion paint. I love how easy it is to apply this glitter and I love that when it dries you can still see the paper and color that is under it.

CPS and Kitchen Sink Stamps

It is still party time at Card Positioning Systems blog and we have THREE sponsors this week. The stamps that I was able to play with are created by Kitchen Sink Stamps. LOVE these things. One of the interesting features of many of the stamps at KSS is that they use 3 or 4 steps to create the final image. I love the depth that is achieved with these steps. I played with an adorable set with some completely adorable little chicks and eggs on it and a bonus set of shells.
There are a couple things you have to remember when working with these Kitchen Sink Stamps.
1. PLAY - you have to use various stamp pads to find the combination of colors that will build on each other. I just sit and stamp my images several times with several different sets of inks to find what I think works for my needs at that time. I mix brands of inks too, this seems to work just fine and maybe better.
2. The colors are going to "blend" or "melt" together as they sit. SOOOO, work on your creations and then walk away and let them sit. You will be amazed when you return at how the inks work together.

This is the card that I created to go with Sketch #101 for Card Positioning Systems blog for this week. What a fun sketch and how cute did this little chick turn out?!

In the close-up, you can get a better view of the layers of inks as each step was stamped. I also used a great set of Labels Two Nestabilities by Spellbinders for my little design element. These not only cut by they emboss and they come in sizes that are made to go together. Another thing to notice here are the little green, metallic spots. I masked my little chich after she was stamped and then gave one quick spritz of my favorite green Glimmer Mist.

Here, I used sketch #50 from past sketches at CPS so that I could use this adorable chick again and I used a slightly different set of inks. You can also see the little greetings on there two cards that are also stamps by KSS, I just love the font she uses.

Here is a better view in this close-up. I used some colors that were a little more intense for this chick.

I LOVE shells and so I just had to create an example so you can see how amazing these stamps turn out. Again, these are stamps that work in steps and in this set there are actually some that use 2 steps, some 3 steps, some 4 steps and actually one that uses 5 steps. Talk about detail!!!

Notice in the close-up that I decorated the entire background of my little calendar with very subtle stamping. Here I just used one or two of the steps so that I had shadows. For my main shells, I also did some of the steps more then once in more then one color. Because these stamps are clear, you are able to see exactly where you are going to stamp, that is what makes these steps possible but that also let me re-stamp some and that just added more definition to the amazing details in the stamps.
