A little bit of silver, a little bit of sparkle

I feel in love with the Sunday Stamps sketch challenge and had to sit down and play.

I already had this background created with Distress Stains, watercolor paper and a stencil so adding some butterflies seemed like the thing to do.  The chevron pattern is created with a stencil and some Brushed Pewter Distress Stain, that is a metallic ink.  

 The butterflies are stamps with a matching set of dies from Clearly Besotted. I love this set because it includes so many different butterflies.  I stamped each one with white ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  That allowed me to simply color each one with a spritz of water and some more Distress Stain.  Then how about those amazing silver glitter words.  This is a die from Simon Says Stamp and it is amazing it can cut these words out so neatly.

Just Us Girls Photo Week

My last week to play along with the Just Us Girls team as their guest, it has been so fun.

 This weeks challenge to a photo inspiration challenge.

 I sat and looked at the photo for awhile and then decided the first thing that caught my eye was the orange chairs, then the touch of blue, then all of the white.  

I had this adorable chair stamp from Gourmet Rubber Stamps plus the sentiment stamp and the word block stamp.  I went with a very easy and quick way to color the chair, with some Distress Stains for a watercolor look.  The little group of flowers is a stamp from Printworks also colored with a watercolor style.

Chevron goodness

Addicted to CAS has a challenge to use Chevron designs and since that is one of my favorites, I had to play along.

 It was hard to decide where to start but I did pick up this little die from Reverse Confetti and it seemed just right.  I had colored the paper first with Distress Stains on watercolor paper. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

 On my desk I had this adorable butterfly that I had stamped, cut out and colored earlier and I thought it was just the way to go to keep my card CAS.  The butterfly stamp and matching die is from Clearly Besotted.  I just added color with Distress Stains.  My card base was plain white but I just couldn't go with that so I added some various Distress Stains to that.  The base of my card is not watercolor paper so this paper does take the stain inks a little differently.

Snowflakes in July

I love the simplicity of the CAS(e) this sketch sketch for this week so I just had to find some minutes to play. 

 In my mind I knew it was this snowflake die from Simon Says Stamp that I wanted to use thus a Christmas in July card.  The sentiment is by Paper Smooches.

 I created my background with various Distress Stains on watercolor paper and then left that to dry.  Once dry, I cut out the snowflake and then cut another snowflake from plain watercolor paper.  I could then inlay one snowflake into the cut out space.  I love the look and then textures of the watercolor paper. I did use some of the Distress Stain Pewter for a great metallic silver accent.

Time for another Just Us Girls challenge

Plus my time as a guest at Just Us Girls.

 The challenge this week is colors.  I was also so inspired by that yummy lollipop and those fun colors.

 Because the inspiration photo looks so much like a party, I went with a birthday theme.  

 To use some of the colors, I used a paint brush swipe stamp from Avery Elle and just inked it several times with Distress Ink.  I first stamped the words "happy birthday" using white ink and white embossing powder.  The embossed lines acted as a resist as I stamped the inks over that making the words pop out.  I wanted a very simple look but I did need to add a balloon which is a stamp from Simon Says Stamp.

Two shades of blue and some roses

Time to play....

 And when I get to play a little bit I turn to online challenges for my inspiration.  For this card I used three different challenges, the first one being the Repeat challenge at CAS-ology.  I wanted to make a statement and yet keep my card very simple.  I picked up some of my favorite flower stamps by Altenew.  After I stamped the outline of the flowers, I stamped the base of the flowers with the two shades of blue in the Colour Me challenge with Distress Stamp pads on watercolor paper.  A spritz of water helped the inks to run a bit.  

I used my brand new dotted label die set from Lil' Inkers Designs. The size of die I used cut both of these pieces.  I mounted the inside one with foam tape for a little bit of dimension.  The sentiment is by Heidi Swapp, plus a few Liquid Pearl dots.

 It's time for another Just Us Girls challenge and another week that I have to opportunity to be a guest there.  Challenge #301 is to use GOLD.  Gold on a card or project has been pretty hot for some time so I loved the chance to add it to my card. 

 I used some gold embossing powder and some metallic gold cardstock to cut my word die.  But, first off, I created a simple background with some Distress Stains on watercolor paper.  I love to touch a few colors to my piece of paper, give it a spritz of water and then walk away and leave it to dry.  I am always amazed at the results when I come back to work with my piece. 

I used an Altenew flower and a leaf sprig by Waltzing Mouse.  I stamped the flower with white ink and embossed that with white embossing powder on warercolor paper.  For my coloring I simply touched the stamped flower with some Distress Stains.  This is such a fun way to add color.  The word die is from Winnie & Walter.

LOVE everything red

So I did retake pictures of my card in the daylight.  You can read below about the card and my last minute picture taking last might.

 I love the way the stamped paint strips ran when I spritzed them with water.  I did add a small spray of some Heidi Swapp Color Shine.

Plus a close up of the flower and the leaf stamps. I stamped the flower with white ink, embossed with white ink and then colored the paper that was on with red Distress Stain.

I need to take a better picture of my card in some good light but this has to do for now because I just had to play along with a challenge that all about red.

AAA Cards Starry Night Challenge

 I was able to pick the theme for this weeks AAA Cards challenge and I think the banner turned out so cute.  I wanted stars but not necessarily patriotic although that is what I am thinking as we just celebrated the Fourth of July. 

 I created my background with Distress Stains on watercolor paper.  I used blue, red and white just because those colors go so nicely with stars.  Plus my sentiment by Tim Holtz has the word Sparkle in it so again not really patriotic and one about celebrating. 

The white dots were created with a Copic white ink in a little bottle.  My stars were punched and I ended up creating a little banner with them by sewing them together.  The dots on the stars were created by Liquid Pearls.  

My card also fits the Addicted to CAS Patriotic challenge although it doesn't have a specific Patriotic theme.

Just Us Girls Celebration

I love any and all online challenges and so a huge treat for me is to be the Guest Designer at Just Us Girls.

 What is even more fun about this challenge is that it is their 300th Challenge and there's a big party with prizes.  Not sure how it can get it any more fun. Be sure to check out the Just Us Girls blog so you can see all of the Design Teams cards and all about the prizes and the amazing companies offering the prizes. 

 The theme is Congratulations so my here is my card.

 I figured one of the best things for a party is Ice Cream with a cherry on top.  To help me create that I went to my brand new Reverse Confetti dies.  I cut two scoops and even gave them some dots of red with a stencil and some Distress Stain.  Be sure to check out this super cute set of dies.

The doily die is from Spellbinders and take a good look at that yummy gold stencil design with embossing paste.  The congrats is a die from PaperTrey, Inc. and I coated it with Glossy Accents.

A simple and sweet card that uses some of my favorite techniques!

 First off, I used the CAS(e) this sketch, they are always fun.  Plus I used my brand new amazing die from Lil' Inker Designs.  That dotted border. It comes with several sizes so I know I'm going to use it a whole bunch.  

 I used watercolor paper because that works so wonderfully with the Distress Stains that are pretty much my favorite way to add color.  The leaves and flower stamps are from Altenew, another big favorite.  I did stamp them in white and emboss them in white because I am always in awe of the look once the Distress Stains are added.
