The color might say it all

First off, Pink Persimmon is offering a 15% off coupon - how can you beat that!? Just go to their site and sign up for the newsletter.  You will then receive the coupon.
Now for my first card, I just had to use the color combo challenge at The Play Date Cafe.
I really want to go there!!! But in the meantime, I used the color combo to create a card.
I have wanted to use this adorable stamp set by My Favorite Things for awhile now and I thought that color combo was the perfect way to color my little guy on the swing.

I, of course, needed to add a few more colors to create my little scene but I still have the golden yellow and that great deep red the focal point.  The blue background was created with a spray of Glimmer Mist.  The card base is Core Impressions by Core'dinations from the Jenni Bowlin collection.  I love this embossed pattern for a "boy" look.  I did add some Aleene's Paper Glaze to the leaves and the wood swing just to add a little extra interest to my image although it was hard to show you that in the photograph.

This card is my Card Positionin Systems card for this week. The sponsor is The Stamps of Life.  I loved using all of these pinks and blues to create a "girly" card with those cute flowers.  That loopy piece is cut from a piece of paper that started out 12" x 12".

The flowers were colored with Copic markers and I added Aleene's Paper Glaze to each flower.  Isn't it neat the dimension that that glaze adds?

Thanks for visiting, Linda (lbpost)

Red, White, Blue and SUN

It's that time of year when we are thinking about Red, White and Blue. My first card that I want to share fits for celebrating the Fourth of July.
The text embossed cardstock is Core Impressions by Core'dinations. Isn't it just perfect on here?
My flower is actually the large Banner stamps by Pink Persimmon. I so love these banner stamps because there are several patterns, you pick the colors. The black, stitching outline is one of the stamps.
This card was created to fit the colors at Colour Q and the design fits the Get Sketchy sketch. It was fun to use the red, white and blue colors but the card isn't necessarily for the Fourth.
The red paper along the top is actually cut from a shaped piece of paper. It was the perfect piece to fit the sketch.
And my "SUN" card is my Card Positioning Systems card for this week. I just turned the sketch on its side.
The sun is cut from patterned paper and accented with White 3-D Fashion Paint by Tulip. I just love the accent of little white, raised dots.
The letters for "splash" and all of the black words are SRM stickers. They made it so easy to give the finishing touches to my card.

Stars, Rain and Baseball

For my Card Positioning Systems card this week. This was such a fun sketch to work with because it was so different. I challenge you to give it a try. I used a Fourth of July theme and then realized that it really was fitting to today too with it being Memorial Day.
I always love the red, white and blue color scheme that makes us think of America and this also gave me a great reason to use this wonderful, chipboard star by Magistical Memories. The papers are by Daisy Bucket and Shabby Green Door.
Notice the red, embossed cardstock. That is Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions cardstock by Core'dinations, the text letters come embossed in it.
I colored the chipboard by patting it thoroughly with a white stamp pad and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. I love the look that gave it.
And, here is a layout I finished recently. The photos are from our "rainy day" little outing. My granddaughter was standing under a water spout and I just loved how casual she was standing there, enjoying the rain.
All of the papers are My Mind's Eye, I love papers that coordinate so well. Notice my NEW Martha Stewart border punch!

And, what would a post be without some pics!
Baseball is almost finished around here, but our grandson was able to pitch in a couple of his games and he was soooooo happy about it and took it so seriously. It was so much fun to see how much he cared about this position.
We took our youngest grandson to this game and he thought he was so cool, climbing all the way to the top of the bleachers! You can tell how cool he thought he was by that huge smile on his face.

This play structure is in our backyard. It really did start out small and grandpa just had to keep going, as he added to it. The kids LOVE it and our own kids are jealous that something like this wasn't built for them! Grandkids do enjoy a ton of extras your own kids don't! We just started letting our youngest grandson go up in this and let me tell you, HE LOVES IT!

Flowers of every color!

(hint-hint, check out my post today at Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker too,
there is a flower in that one)
***
Todays post is full of flowers and flowers of every color. For the cards, color is the key ingredient with a couple challenges, Moxie Fab and Embellish Magazine.
This is this weeks Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger. A bowl full of pink and red roses is just so elegant.
I chose to focus on the green vase and the pink roses. You have to love the cardstock for the card base, it is brand new from Core'dinations and Cosmo Cricket. The embossed design is already in the cardstock and all it takes is a little sanding.
And, here are my paper roses. I used this wonderful, woodgrain patterned paper by American crafts.
Here are three of the four layers of my roses. Layer one is a punched scallop circle, layer two is a circle that I roughly cut out and then I folded back the outside of this circle, (the backside of the woodgrain paper is green), not taking care to have it too perfect. The third layer is a punched circle with the edges roughed up with a Tonic Paper Distresser. The last little layer is another punched, scallop circle. I added glue to the back side of the second circle that I folded the edges back on and glued it to the white, scallop circle layer.
The next card and challenge is a color challenge from Embellish Magazine.com.
Gotta love how elegant these colors are together and this also happens to be almost the same colors in the Play Date Cafe challenge for this week. Theirs is really an orange instead of the red.
With this card I got to show off my most recent purchases, this wonderful flower wood stamp from Hero Arts and the Spellbinder, Nestabilities label shape.
The flowers are stamped on Curious Iridescent Cryogen white cardstock with a black Versafine stamp pad and then embossed with clear embossing powder. They were then colored with Copic Markers and cut out. I coated the buds only with Aleene's Paper Glaze for a glass-like finish.
The cardstock that is the card base is a text patterned embossed cardstock from Jenni Bowlin and Core'dinations cardstock. The color is from the Black Magic collection so it is black on the front side and brown or tan for the core and reverse side. Sanding exposed that great brown/tan core and makes the text design really show up. What I really like is that the card is black but the inside is lighter for the sentiment.

I also wanted to share more photos from my trip about 2 weeks ago to a garden we have in our area. While it is spring and things are just starting to bloom, there was still a whole lot to get photos of.
You would almost think that these flowers were the exact inspiration for my previous card!

Orange blossoms with an orange in the background. If you have never smelled these, you have really missed something amazing.

This sign just cracked me up, not knowing there could possibly be a plant with that name!

All about Orange

Not sure how it happened but my post today is full of shades of ORANGE! It has to be good, right!?
First of all, I want to share what I came up with to go with the Colour Q color challenge #28 for this week. Again, I just love the way they pictured the colors.
Because white is one of the colors, I made that my card base and embossed it with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The embossing makes this card also fit the Little Red Wagon challenge #24 for dry embossing.
Can you believe this butterfly!? It is actually just cut from a piece of new Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions Core'dinations cardstock. This particular piece of cardstock has embossed butterflies all of it in different sizes. I simple cut out one of them and sanded it to expose the embossed image.
And, I also wanted to play with the Card Patterns sketch #59 this week. Their sponsor is Hero Arts so I pulled out some of my Hero Arts stamps to go with the sketch.
Once again, I pulled out my wood grain background stamp. I love that is looks neat is about any color you stamp it in. Here I picked a cranberry color. I did spray that with a couple different colors of Glimmer Mist and then added a flourish stamped image over that.
The white piece is embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. By rubbing it a little bit with a Fluid Chalk stamp pad, I added some color over the embossed design. The butterfly is colored with Copic markers and I added little bits of Aleene's Paper Glaze to the black portions of the butterfly to add a glass-like look.
****
And my husband and I went on a fun adventure this last weekend to see the poppy fields. We drove over to the Leona Valley area just outside of Palmdale, CA. For as far as you can see, you see blankets of orange. This is the peak season for that and it was truly amazing.

This is a close-up of some yellow wildflowers that were scattered in the orange poppies.

What do Christmas and Birthdays have in common?

Both are part of my post for today! I always love the theme of Christmas in July when it comes to thinking ahead of the holidays so I made my own celebration with Christmas in April!
I LOVE the adorable, vintage look of these October Afternoon Very Merry Wild cards and so I made this one the focus of my Card Positioning Systems card for this week.
Notice the dot embossed cardstock for the card base. It is new from Core'dinations and Jenni Bowlin. So easy to use with just a bit of sanding.

NOW, hold onto your hat because I have birthday photos to share. When the family was together for Easter, we had an early birthday party for him.
Everyone was gathered for him to start opening presents and they gave out a cheer for him and it was so adorable that he just joined in! The birthday stuff is a whole new adventure you know.
His mom pulled out the birthday cake so everyone could ohhh and ahhh and before anyone knew what was up, he was ready to lick the cake! Of course, I had to catch a photo in that split second before we caught him.
After he blew out the candles, he was holding them up to show us how old he is now, 2 years old.
He got the first slice, one of the ends.
Here is a good photo of the cake before the candles were added and before we cut into it. It was so cool looking and he just loved it.

CPS - JustRIte Stamps and Colour Q challenge

The sponsor for this next weeks Card Positioning Systems blog is JustRite stamps. This is a happy day because these stamps are so fun to play with.
I didn't do this on purpose but after the card was finished I realized how fitting the green patterned paper by Webster's Pages was for the month of March! The embossed text cardstock behind the circle shapes is a piece from the Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions collection.
I used a Nestabilities that I have from Spellbinders to make my three circle elements that mimic the sketch. After I cut the shapes and embossed them, I sanded them so the embossing showed up a little better on the Core'dinations cardstock and then I punched out the middle of these shapes with a circle punch. After I stamped my sentiment with my JustRite stamps, I placed this stamped piece behind one of the punched out circles.
***
And, I found a new-to-me challenge this week, Colour Q color challenge. Of course I NEEDED to play along!
To start the direction I wanted to take with my card, I picked up a mini pad of papers I have from Little Yellow Bicycle from the Travelers collection. The colors were just right.
I used a 2 part chipboard tree from Maya Road. I painted the trunk and I coated the leaf portion with patterned paper from the collection. I have a little container on my desk of yummy buttons from PaperTrey, Inc so I just had to use them on my tree.
