Layout based on Unscripted Sketch #8

First of all - take a peek at the newest issue of Scrapbooking and Beyond on their web site. That first layout with the red paper is mine!!! This is actually my nephews daughter and I did two layouts with this same photo. The photo was just altered in two different ways.

Next, my friend Keri pointed me in the direction of a rather new sketch site this last week, Unscripted Sketches, and since I love sketches, I just had to play. What is a little different for me is that I created a layout with the sketch. Because I used Core'dinations cardstock for my layout, I have a bunch of neat techniques I wanted to point out.

First of all, I used a little grouping of index size prints of our youngest grandson swinging at the park. The little frame that holds these photos is a Nestabilities by Spellbinders. I cut it out so that it was just the frame and you can see the embossed edge that was sanded so that the embossing is exposed with the core of the paper.

Next notice my flower(I hope it is OK to use a flower on a BOY'S layout)!!! The larger flower is my new Sizzix flower die and the smaller, daisy looking flower is a Nestabilities. I sanded the smaller flower so the core of the cardstock was exposed.

All of my accent lines were created with a Scor-Pal tool. This is such a fast and easy way to add embossed lines that can then be sanded to expose the core of this Vintage piece of Core'dinations cardstock. The edges of the outside of the layout were also sanded as were places here and there on the background.

(hint)The Scor-pal board comes with a tool to create the creases. I make my lines stronger with the small end of a stylis after I have used the Scor-Pal tool. This makes for deeper embossed lines to sand)
