I created a card last night with the 2 Sketches 4 you sketch #42. I need a creative boost since my cardmaking had been put aside for a few days with holiday celebrations and preparations. A new sketch just does it. All of the supplies are Jenni Bowlin including the Core'dinations cardstock.
I used a butterfly and that just might look like spring! I had wanted this Hero Arts butterfly stamp for some time so I finally took the plunge and purchased it. I love that it is just an outline so it can end up lots of different colors. I stamped it with black, embossed it with clear and then added color with a spritz of Memories Mist and then rubbed it with a couple Fluid Chalk stamp pads.
The cardstock base is Jenni Bowlin embossed cardstock for Core'dinations. This one is Black Magic with a red core so when I sanded the text design and the outside edges, the red is exposed.

And a couple photos to share:
I live in Ventura, CA and the nickname for our city is the Poinsettia City. These amazing plants grow all year round here so they get huge! Taller then a person. I went out to find some to show you. These were growing in an old, historical park in our downtown area.
A single bloom looking through a chain link fence.
Here is a shot down the row of huge plants.
I thought this contrast was fun, a tall palm tree in the background.
And, guess what I picked from my yard TODAY!

We planted a couple Cherry Tomatoe plants this summer and they are still growing and producing tomatoes! It is usually a freeze that will eventually kill them.
Thanks for visiting, Linda (lbpost)

ReplyDeleteOMGoodness...your card is absolutely gorgeous!!!! Love your pics...I've never seen Poinsettia's that weren't potted already...lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love what you did with the heart winged butterfly stamp - just gorgeous. Happy Holidays, Linda! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLovely card! :) Kathy
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful card. What wonderful surroundings you have for creating. When I lived in Indonesia, we had a Poinsettia tree in our yard the size of magnolia trees. They are absolutely awesome! Have a great New Year!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS, gorgeous card! Love the photos too! :-) Thanks so much for joining us over at 2S4Y this week! :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cool card with a really great butterfly.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a poinsettia that large. Up here in Michigan, we only get small plants. Even our big plants are small in comparison to what you have in California.
You are so lucky to still get tomatoes from your garden.
Neat card, Linda! The combo is unique and cool :)
ReplyDeleteLove poinsettias that grow outdoors in CA! I remember living in Santa Barbara 15 years ago and going to Ventura at Christmas time - isn't there a Poinsettia mall or something like that? It was sure fun even if I was only there for a short time! :)
I found you from your comment on my post. I think it's funny that your posting about things still growing in your garden and I'm posting about snow. I love you work!!! Very talented. I'll check back often.
ReplyDeletegorgeous card!! LOVE the butterflies!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card, I love the butterfly.
ReplyDeleteThose flowers ae beautiful. I am jealous you still have tomatoes. I didn't even get any this summer. We had too much rain and they all had fungus.
Ooh, the card is stunning, and I love the poinsettias! I remember them being like that in Hawaii...so cool that you have them there too! All these reds...feels like the holidays. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! So cool about the Poinsettias. For some reason we missed buying one this year. I'm totally jealous about the tomato! We're buried in snow (actually, I'm kind of glad to finally see it) and the tomatoes in the store right now I won't even buy. They feel like rocks.
ReplyDeleteLinda, your card is gorgeous! I love that butterfly, and all your extra special touches with it are stunning. Love, love, love the sanded background paper, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd how fun to see your photos. I'm a Northern CA girl, myself, transplanted to NC. I still miss the old homestead. ;)
Gorgeous Linda - it's beautiful! Wish I could find time to play this week. Happy New Years!
