I love good news!

And that news is...I get to be a guest designer at Jillibean Soup sometime this coming year!!! I think that they put out the cutest stuff and so I will be very excited for when my turn comes up, although I am not all that sure yet when that will be.
AND - I wanted to share a couple projects using tons of Jillibean Soup.
I just love when several patterns of papers will work together for a coordinated look. When I first saw these corrugated alphabet letters I just knew I had to get some so when I found them at Emma's Paperie the other day, I added them to my order. I picked the white ones because I just did not know what color I should get. I sprayed the ones on this card with yellow Memories Mist to change the color then I rubbed them with a green Powder Puff chalk stamp pad. I guess the white ones were a good choice since I could custom color them.
See my little pleated accent? I just folded a strip of paper with pleats and then attached it to my card with some machine sewing right down the middle.
This umbrella patterned paper made me soooooo happy since we had just had an afternoon of playing in puddles with a yellow umbrella.
Again, I was able to make the alphabet letters match my layout by giving them a custom coloring job. I sprayed them with that same yellow Memories Mist and rubbed them with brown Powder Puff Chalk ink, just along the bottom of each letter.
Thanks for visiting, Linda (lbpost)

Page Maps - 2 Sketches 4 You and Pink Paislee

That is quite a combo, but it works!
First of all, I love Page Maps and their great "plans" for page layouts. I used a 12" x 12" Page Map from November. If you haven't checked out what they offer, you have to because each month there are new "maps" for layouts and cards and also in a variety of sizes. I also had just received some Pink Paislee Christmas papers and so they just seemed like the perfect fit for these photos and this layout.
How cute is that little owl? Yes, he is NOT part of a Christmas set of stamps but can you say he worked here!!! Especially with his little hat that I added that matches the hat that my youngest grandson is wearing in our little photo shoot. He was stamped on the patterned paper and embossed with black embossing powder because that makes the image more intense and then I cut him out. The hat was created by just cutting up some scraps and adding a glitter brad.
The sticker letters are also Pink Paislee and I punched two sizes of circles to create my little accents down the side. I added red, glitter brads to the middles of those circles just to bring in a bit of BLING!
Since my stamps and papers were already out and I also had some scraps of other patterns of Pink Paislee papers from some other projects, they just seemed to go together for this card that was created from a 2 Sketches 4 you sketch, Kazan's Sketch #14.
The little owl was stamped on the grid paper and embossed. He was partly colored with some Copic markers and brushed with some Powder Puff Chalk stamp pads. The circle/flower design is also a stamp and that was stamped and embossed with green.

CPS #90 and 2 Sketches 4 You cards

Yes, I got in an early start to Christmas with this weeks Card Positioning Systems Blog card. And my color scheme is a little "out of the box" too.
It was fun to combine a couple patterned papers from the Irresistible collection by Quick Quotes papers for this.
One of my absolute products right now is this yummy, green glitter by Clearsnap. LOVE this green and I want to use it on everything! So green snowflakes might not be very traditional but I think it works!!! I used Plaid's, Liquid Embossing Finish first and then sprinkled a generous amount of glitter over that. One thing about using this kind of liquid for my glue is that it is dimensional.
And, again, I love to use sketches so it is just a natural to want to follow the current 2 Sketches 4 You sketch, Kazan's sketch #13.
I so love this bright yellow lace paper and pairing it with this great blue patterned paper was fun. The butterfly is a 2 step Cuttlebug die. One step cuts the butterfly shape and then there are four choices of embossing plates that fit perfectly. The embossed design on the butterfly was accented by rubbing with a Powder Puff Chalk stamp pad by Quick Quotes. I also stamped a "writing" stamp with the same blue stamp pad over the yellow letters to make the pieces go together a little more.

Creating Backgrounds - PART 10 - Glimmer Mist

I have shared some ideas for creating backgrounds using Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels before but I just had to pull them out again. I picked up a couple new colors recently and of course, I had to try them out.
What I had mostly wanted to accomplish with this first card was to create a fancy, colored paper to stamp the bird on. I actually did stamp and emboss the bird first and then colored that paper with a couple colors of Glimmer Mist.
One of my new colors was Coffee Shop so I sprayed that and then accented it with a little bit of the Key Lime Pie. I thought that little bit of green helped my piece match my background paper. From the side, the Coffee Shop brown has a copper sparkle. The leaves on the stamped piece were accented with Platinum Stickles. The background piece that this circle sits on was punched on both sides with the Stampin' Up notebook punch and then stamped with the alphabet stamp by CatsLife Press. The punched edges were distressed with the Tonic Paper Distresser and inked/colored with the Powder Puff chalk inks by Quick Quotes. If you haven't seen or heard of these stamp pads before, you need to take a look. Great colors and they are so easy to work with.
For this next card, the flowers are part of a piece of Irresistible patterned paper by Quick Quotes. I cut out the flowers and they were plain white with the black outline lines. I filled in the bottom petal of each of the flowers with the Icicle Stickles. The Icicle Stickles has a chunkier glitter in it.
The help the flower match the purple patterned paper I used for the card, I sprayed the flower with the Fully Purple Glimmer Mist and then I used the new Copper Metallics to spray the entire front of the card. This color is meant to give a nice "Glimmer" to the project rather then a strong color change. Notice how it colored the Stickles. I wish you could see the really cool GLEAM the card has from the Copper.
Thank You for Visiting, Linda (lbpost)
