Stamped images

I wanted to share a couple cards with you today.

I used stamp images to create my cards.  First off, some great medallions from Wplus9 Designs. I love "doily" style images.  I used the simple color combination challenge at The Play Date Cafe for my card.
What is fun is that I really could have made this card any color after I stamped the two shapes of the medallions. I did emboss the images with clear embossing powder.  That makes the image stable for using water, etc.  I used a watercolor crayon and scribbled that in the middle of the images and then used a water brush to finish the look.  I then sprayed the entire card with Shimmerz Paintz Coloringz.  It was the exact color to work with the color challenge.
Here is The Play Date Cafe combo.
Next up, my Card Positioning Systems card for this week.  All month long our sponsor has been The Stamps of Life and my main focus was her great hexagon stamp set.  The sentiment and the second sentiment are from another set by her.
I just love the different patterns she has for her hexagons and I used one of Stephanie Barnards Colorbox stamp pads too.
Here is the CPS sketch we are working with.

Gina K and JustRite stamps

I love to stamp, I love to buy stamps, I love to collect stamps!!!!  If that sounds like an addiction, then that is me!
I used this adorable set of postage related stamps by Tami Mayberry for Gina K stamps.  I used them along with the Card Positioning Systems sketch for this week. Tami is the sponsor this week and you really need to check in on Wednesday to see what she is giving away.
The green background postage stamp was created with some of the stamps from this set.
For my next card, I pulled out some brand-new-to-me stamps from JustRite stamps.  I created it around a challenge that they are having on their blog this week and that is to make a handmade flower.  Plus, the flower fits the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger for this week with the crepe flowers although the trigger is a whole lot more subtle in the colors.
I stamped the frame on white cardstock, added some color to portions of it with Copic markers and then sprayed it with Rolling in the Hay, Shimmerz Vibez.
For my flower, I pulled out some orange tissue paper that came in a package that I purchased. I had actually already thrown this paper in my garbage can.  I guess this fits Earth Day and recycling too!!! I looked down and saw that even though I had torn this paper, I had enough of it to cut some circles.  I folded it and roughly cut four layers of circles.  Next I took some large scallop scissors and tried to cut around the edge.  After I had these layers glued to my card and after I glued the buttons in the middle, I scrunched and crunched the layers.
And I have to share a couple photos...
Our youngest grandson just turned 3 years old.  His party is still to come but he wants a Dinosaur party so I had this huge Dinosaur balloon waiting for him when he came home on his actual birthday.  He was sooooo impressed!!!
This thing is almost as tall as he is!!!

Unscripted and CPS sketches time again

You know I love working with sketches and so I always find joy in sharing my cards each week.
This card is my Unscripted sketch card for this week. I am 100% Danish so it was really fun to use this stamped sentiment by Fiskars on my card.  I have liked this little saying for years but I didn't know it was a Danish Proverb until I bought this stamp set last week.  The red cardstock with the embossed flowers in it is Core Impressions by Core'dinations. All it took was some sanding so expose the flowers.
And, since we are talking about a Friend's House, there aren't better papers for that then this new collection by  Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker called We Are Family.
Now for my Card Positioning Systems card.  I have this adorable stamp set by Layers of Color and I thought it fit well here.
My favorite part is that wonderful sun image.  I stamped the images on my pieces of white cardstock with black Versafine ink and embossed them with clear embossing powder.  Now that they are embossed with the clear, they will resist the ink colors that I used.  I rubbed the papers with the yellow Marvy stamp pad and then sprayed a couple colors of the Shimmerz sprays.  See my materials list for the exact colors of sprays.
And, I also want to share a Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker card. The challenge the design team had was to create something to do with love and I created a card using the It's Raining, It's Pouring collection.
I just punched three sizes of hearts, distressed the edges a bit and added them to my card in layers with machine sewing down the middle.
And, for a photo...
My first Daffodil bloomed this last week! LOVE seeing spring happening ever though we are cold here.

CPS #138, some Shimmerz and fall colors

I have played with Shimmerz paint before and found it to be a fun way to add some shimmer and shine to a project. This week at the Card Positioning Systems blog, the team is finding ways to put Shimmerz paint to good use.
I choose to PAINT the Shimmerz paint onto my white cardstock first and then I punched out shapes from the painted paper. The Shimmerz paints come in little jars and it is a very liquid medium. I used a paint brush to apply mine.
I used two coats of the Shimmerz paint on my cardstock. You can see how the paint caused my punched shapes to curl a little bit. I wanted that to happen so the flowers would look more 3-D. I used two colors, one for the larger flowers and another for the small flowers. I used the sun to try to exaggerate the shine on the flowers so you could see it.
Another card I wanted to share is perfectly fitting for a nice fall day. The bird design and the words are rub-on images from My Mind's Eye.

Stamping Bella Stamp Cuties

This week, the Card Positioning Systems Design Team got the opportunity to play with Stamping Bella stamps. Be sure to check out the CPS blog for all of the adorable cards the team created. With the stamps that I got to play with, I created three cards.
On my first card, I used Stellafina. Is she just adorable? I wanted my whole card to be very pink and girly so I colored her with Copic markers and I also used Core'dinations White Wash cardstock for my card. You can see that the front side of this paper is white with a hint of pink and the reverse side is pink. I used a Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing plate on one of the pieces and when I sanded that, it exposed the pink core.
I took a rather extreme photo here with the sun shining directly on my little image so that you could get an idea of how the Shimmerz paint looked as a final coat to her costume and ballet slippers.
The above photo gives you a close-up look at the sanding that I did on the outside edges of the card to expose that pink core and the punched, lacey borders.
This card uses the Flamenca Ketto image. I knew I wanted her to be very red and black and again, Copic markers were the way to go. This card uses the same CPS sketch for this week.
I used a Spellbinders Nestabilites die to cut out my little colored image and to cut the red mat. I love this die and you can also see that I embossed it. I used Core'dinations cardstock for my entire card and so sanding the red, embossed mat, exposed the core of that cardstock. You can also see that after coloring my little image, I added white dots with the White Slick 3-D Fashion Paint by Tulip. The paint dries 3-D and gives such a fun and feminine look to her dress, crown and shoes.
I wanted to give a close-up to the red cut edge. I used my Cloud, Fiskars scissors to help it match that Nestabilitie die. All of the outside edge of the card was sanded to expose the core.
Yes, the little flower vase stamp is also by Stamping Bella. I followed this weeks Card Patterns sketch #15 to help me put my card together.
I left the vases white and added some shadowing with the light blue Copic markers and then filled in each of the vases with Aleene's Paper Glaze. When that was dry, it left a "water/glass" look to each vase.
For my little butterfly accent piece, I ran a piece of the orange colored Core'dinations cardstock through the Cuttlebug machine with an embossing plate. I punched a circle from that and sanded my embossed circle. Isn't it amazing how that design just stands out with the sanding that exposes the core? I also sanded the edges of my orange, scallop border and the entire green card has the edges sanded too. The butterfly is cut from the Making Memories patterned paper.

Christmas Tree Branches card

A quick card to help celebrate the season!
The products used on this card are from the I Am A Scrapaholic November kit. The papers are SEI and I cut the branches out of one of the patterned papers.
Red Stickles highlighted the red berries on the branches and I covered the chipboard ornament with another one of the papers in the kit. Something that I just loved was I painted the ornament with Angel Wings Shimmerz paint and it gave it the most wonderful little sparkle but I couldn't quite capture that with the camera. You will have to imagine it!!! A couple extra dots of sparkle were added with Glitter 3-D Fashion paint by Tulip.

Want some BLING!?

Bling seems to be where it's at these days. I love BLING and I love that there are so many ways to get some serious BLING or some subtle BLING. I was able to get my hands on these adorable little bottles of SHIMMERZ paint this week and of course, I had to try it on a project immediately. They come in a number of colors and all you need to do is use a paint brush and add it to your project. I'm going to try out some other techniques but this is the easiest and most obvious.

I stamped the flower and vine stamp on white cardstock with black ColorBox ink and embossed it with black Top Boss embossing powder. I didn't need to emboss it but I wanted my black lines to be as intense as possible and by embossing the image, I created little "walls" so to speak to help contain my colors. These paints wouldn't have flowed all over if I didn't have the "walls, I just think it helps with the overall look.
I let the sun shine on my colored image so that you could for sure see the BLING that comes with the Shimmerz Paints. I also stamped and colored the flower twice and cut one out so that my image is more 3-D. You can also see the embossed dots. I used a Cuttlebug embossing plate and the green paper is Core'dinations so I slightly sanded my embossed dots to reveal the underneath color of the paper.
