Colors, Sketches and FUN!!!

I have some fun stuff to share...
I have a hate/love relationship with this card. Ever happen to you? I created the card around the Colour Q combination. I worked one night for some time trying to put something together and as I left it and went to bed, I knew I did not like it at all. I was going to get up and go in a completely different direction. BUT...when I got up and looked at it, I could see the possibilities and so I went with it. The circle pattern is cut with the Paper Lace 2 Cricut cartridge.
As I was trying to make this work, I read Cath's challenge on Moxie Fab to use a canning jar. I LOVE canning jars, so this made me happy. I had this adorable digital stamp jar by The Wax Fruit Co and I was pretty sure I could print it out real small.  I could say as I finished the card, I loved it!
Here is the Colour Q combo.
Next up, the retro sketch for this last week.  I pulled out a stencil that I hadn't used yet and created the design on white cardstock using a stamp pad from Hero Arts.
I just purchased a set of stamps from Verve.  I loved this set because it includes several sentiments that are meant to be the spotlight on a card.  My little sun is hand cut.
 Here is the retro sketch.
And, I also wanted to play along with Freshly Made sketches this week. The fun part is that you are to pick out a sketch from their past sketches and I was so happy to see so many that are fun.
I used a piece of digital paper and some digital elements from Echo Park's Everyday Eclectic to create my card.
Here is the Freshly Made sketch that I used, sketch #2.

Sketches and Colors

Sketches and Colors - the fun challenges!!!
For my first card, I used the Card Positioning Systems sketch for this week. Now, I will say, this is a layout on a card I wouldn't have thought to use but I sure liked it, it is fun and different.
The poppy image is a digital stamp from The Wax Fruit Company. I colored it with Copic markers. The embossed cardstock is by Core'dinations.
 Here is the CPS sketch.
Next, I used the color combination that is the challenge for Cas-ual Fridays for this week. I wanted to use my brand new Lil' Inkers flip flop stamps and matching die.  The card base is cut with a Cricut cartridge.
Seriously, could these flip flops be any cuter!!! I cut the flip flops with the die, twice, once with white cardstock and again with the dark turquoise. The die has little cuts around the side so after I stamped the design on the white flip flops, I cut them down along those little cut lines so they are matted with the turquoise flip flops.
This is the Cas-ual Fridays color combo.

Some Yellow here and Some Yellow there

I see so much of the color yellow used lately and I so love it.

For this card I used the Colour Q combo for my card and the Freshly Made sketch.  As usual, I am in love with the colors they put together. Using a color challenge always makes me go out of my box on combinations.  The little ball jar is a digital stamp by The Wax Fruit Company and the flowers are part of a digital stamp by Hero Arts.  Part of the fun of using digital stamps is that I can pick the size I want. For this card I was able to put the two stamps together and then I printed the image out as one.

All I needed was just a bit of coloring with my Copic markers and I used one of my new most favorite supplies, some Liquid Pearls by Ranger.
Here is the Colour Q combo.
And, the Freshly Made sketch that I used, I just turned the sketch on it's side.
For this card, I played around with a technique I have wanted to use for awhile. I also wanted to make it fit the Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab.  I cut a bunch of diamonds using my Spellbinders Nestabilities die.  Once they were cut, I cut each one in half.  The paper is by BasicGrey and it is 2 sided, so I alternated using both sides for my design.

Once I had my triangles in place, I gave my design the accent of black rhinestones.
Part of my inspiration is the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger.  From this I picked up that great yellow and the triangle shapes in rows.

Unscripted sketch time

Any excuse I can get, I will use a sketch to create a card.  That is why I love being part of the Unscripted sketch blog and the Card Positioning Systems sketch blog.
I didn't share my Unscripted sketch card with you last week so today I am going to share last weeks and this weeks together.
This sketch was a bit of a challenge, but it was fun to stack the cut out leaves and butterflies from the Little Yellow Bicycle papers.  Notice the pretty punched corners on the light blue paper, LOVE that look.
The leaves and the butterflies are both in pieces of the patterned papers.
And, here is this weeks card.
Arielle from the Wax Fruit Company let the team use one of her digital stamps if we wanted. I just love what she creates so I found this fun.
I opened a Word document and inserted the little birdhouse image.  I sized it to the size I wanted to use and the I printed it three times. Once on plain white cardstock, once on the brick patterned paper by My Little Shoebox and again on the text print patterned paper by My Mind's Eye.  I used portions of each of the tree print outs to paper piece my design together for my card.

Orange flowers

I have said this before but here it goes again...I LOVE CHALLENGES!
I am always a fan of color challenges and Play Date Cafe does such a good job of putting them together but this weeks combo is a "MUST DO"! Is this yum?
I also love sketches so as I was trying to decide how I was going to put that color combo together, I came across the Sketchy Thursday sketch and while these are meant for layouts, I knew I wanted to try it on a card.
I went searching for a photo to use because I liked that that one part of the card would be a photo that I took.  I found this wonderful, orange rose photo that I took as I walked through a garden.
The flourish piece is cut with my Cricut using the Cindy Loo cartridge.  The sentiment is printed directly on the card front. I used a digital stamp by The Wax Fruit Company.
I loved in the sketch that they used a butterfly going off of the edge and so I used my Kreaxions butterfly die with this text patterned paper.  Notice I created a decorative middle to the butterfly by pleating a strip of matching paper.
This card uses the Card Positioning Systems sketch for this week.  Want2Scrap is the sponsor for this week. You MUST check out their BLING! They offer shapes of rhinestones and pearls that fit with the shapes of Spellbinder dies. SOOO clever.
I used a Springtime topper by Flower Soft, cut in a circle shape.  I layered that onto a scallop circle Spellbinder Nestabilities die.  The circle of rhinestones fit perfectly. Notice that great accent of the Flower Soft on the plant in the tea cup.  I used two colors of Flower Soft for a more natural look.

Bunnies and Hearts

First off, I want to share my Unscripted sketch for this coming week with you.  I hope you can find some minutes to create a card with the sketch too and share it with us at Unscripted sketches.
I just had to use this totally cute little digital stamp from Wax Fruit Company. If you go there, scroll down the page a little and you will see this image.  Isn't it precious?!
Here is a close-up of the image. I opened a blank page in Microsoft Word and then inserted the digital stamp image.  I resized it a little smaller so it would fit the sketch the way I wanted it to.  After it was printed on my white cardstock, all it took was a little coloring with Copic Markers.
I wanted to share something fun with you too...
This is the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker ad from the January 2011 CARDS issue. These two cards are mine. I just loved how the ad turned out plus I love that collection of papers.

Joy and Smiles

First off, I can't wait to share my Unscripted sketch card with you this week.
Be sure to check out what the other team members did with the sketch and to take a few minutes to play along. I love working with sketches.
I found a new Digital Stamp company, Wax Fruit Company and so I gave three of her stamp sets a try for this card.  The Mason jar, the little bunch of Tulips and the sentiment. All of these sets come with more images in them.  Notice I made the jar look like it had water in it by coloring it a soft blue and adding Aleene's Paper Glaze over it. It has a fun look in real life.
The tulips were just printed on X-press It Copic paper and then colored with Copic markers. Not sure at all what I did before Copics came into my life!!! Actually, I had just given up trying to color images if at all possible!
Next, my CPS card for this week.
I have also been so excited to get to share this card with you.  When I was in school, we really did read the Dick and Jane books and I loved them. While combing an antique store some time ago, I came across a copy and just had to buy it for old times sake. Well, I tried scanning a page the other day and printing it on Core Essentials cardstock.  The little words here were also part of the page.
The Core cardstock has a great texture to it and I just loved the result. I just cut out the printed image with a Spellbinder Nestabilities die and that was it. The edges were colored slightly with a Distress stamp pad to help with the antique or aged look.  Notice the green card base. That is a piece of Glitter Core'dinations cardstock. It has just the right amount of glitter to make for a fun card.
And, I just have to share a few photos from yesterday...
Saturday night we had what was supposed to be our last rain storm for awhile. We have had so much rain!  BUT...before we headed off to church, we just had to play in one last puddle.  And, since these dinosaurs are almost a contant companion anymore, a couple of them had to come too.
This was a lake for this guy!
He really could have stayed here all morning so it was hard to break up this party!
