Stars, Rain and Baseball

For my Card Positioning Systems card this week. This was such a fun sketch to work with because it was so different. I challenge you to give it a try. I used a Fourth of July theme and then realized that it really was fitting to today too with it being Memorial Day.

I always love the red, white and blue color scheme that makes us think of America and this also gave me a great reason to use this wonderful, chipboard star by Magistical Memories. The papers are by Daisy Bucket and Shabby Green Door.

Notice the red, embossed cardstock. That is Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions cardstock by Core'dinations, the text letters come embossed in it.

I colored the chipboard by patting it thoroughly with a white stamp pad and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. I love the look that gave it.

And, here is a layout I finished recently. The photos are from our "rainy day" little outing. My granddaughter was standing under a water spout and I just loved how casual she was standing there, enjoying the rain.

Baseball is almost finished around here, but our grandson was able to pitch in a couple of his games and he was soooooo happy about it and took it so seriously. It was so much fun to see how much he cared about this position.

We took our youngest grandson to this game and he thought he was so cool, climbing all the way to the top of the bleachers! You can tell how cool he thought he was by that huge smile on his face.

This play structure is in our backyard. It really did start out small and grandpa just had to keep going, as he added to it. The kids LOVE it and our own kids are jealous that something like this wasn't built for them! Grandkids do enjoy a ton of extras your own kids don't! We just started letting our youngest grandson go up in this and let me tell you, HE LOVES IT!

Sketch Addiction

This weekend I was on the search for some sketches to use so I could use some of the neat supplies that were sitting on my scrapping table and here are a couple that I found. First, I turned to Card Patterns and used their sketch #27 to go along with these adorable new October Afternoon papers. I think the first thought for these papers would be a project that is "baby" related but when I went on a search for what October Afternoon stamps I had that would work, I came up with this cute label and the word "together". That just seems to go with that cute little row of ducks.

Want a close-up look at the punches I used? I had some extra Michael's coupons this week, so I am now the proud owner of some new border punches!!! Here I used two border punches. That large scallop one embosses and punches.

For the above card, I round a brand-new-to-me sketch and it was just right for these Daisy Bucket Designs papers and my brand new loopy border punch. I was blog hopping and came across the i heart 2 stamp blog and thought this sketch would be fun to use.

Is this punch just plain YUM! It also has a matching corner punch that I am sure I am going to go get.

And the below photo just shows that it pays to be the "little" guy in the crowd. Our two older grandsons were over over the weekend and this is one of the games that got invented. Let me tell you that the smallest guy was pretty happy for the ride. He would willingly lay down on the large frizby for free rides.

Card Patterns and more JustRite Stamping

Yes, you already know I love sketches challenges, so I tackled the Card Patterns sketch #25 for this week.

And, I can't hide it, more brand new supplies. Is that lace paper just plain yummy!? I love adding flowers of any kind, but I thought it would be fun to make my own flower by tearing some Core'dinations cardstock. It is so fun to tear this paper to expose the core. I also tore the leaves but I also put a score line down each one with the Scor-Pal tool.

I used a piece from The Chocolate Box collection for my card base. I sanded all of the outside edges of the card to expose the blue that goes so well with my card elements. I just love that my card is brown but has that great blue edge cut the other really cool thing is that when the card is opened, the inside of the card is also that wonderful blue color.

Since we are playing with JustRite stamps at CPS this week, I just had to put together another card with some of the stamps that I have. JustRite offers stamps that are individual letters and you can place them on a block that holds the letters, allowing you to create you own greeting. They also offer a few different fonts. I just had to show some of those letters off by creating this greeting for my card.

The flower is cut from a piece of Daisy Bucket Designs patterned paper. I added it to my card front with foam tape for added dimension. It is a little bit hard to get the full effect with my photo, but I coated each of the petals to my flower with Aleene's Paper Glaze. The glaze gives the petals an epoxy look.

CPS #125 and JustRite stamps

You can see more brand new papers that I just picked up, on this card. I am loving the shaped papers, look how perfectly a piece of this one worked to fit on the front of the card.

Here is a close-up of the stamp I used from the "Just a little caffeine" set. I love Starbucks and I always order a Grande size so could this one be any more perfect for me! Wouldn't it be a great stamp to use when you are going to give a friend a "coffee" gift card? I only stamped this one with brown ink and then did a little bit of coloring with Copic markers. I had punched out the stamped image with a circle punch but then I cut that edge with zig zag scissors and inked that cut edge.

I made a second card to fit the same sketch, using more of the JustRite stamps that I received to work with. This set of stamps are actually half circles of words and you can put these half circles together to form an entire circle of words or you can just use any of the half circles. These are from the "Celebrations Demi Phrase" set. I thought these were fun because you can also use the individual letters that come in the set and make it more personalized. Lots of possibilities with this one.

You can also see the Core'dinations cardstock accents on this card. The long edge of the card has lines put in it with a Scor-Pal tool and then it was sanded.

I wanted you to see the stamped words, a little closer and I also wanted you to see my little flower/circle accent.
