Be Still

My card was created around a few online challenges, starting with the soft color combination from the ColorThrowdown Challenge.
A The Crafter's Workshop stencil and some Distress Ink on watercolor paper set the stage with the background.  I used a stitched rectangle die from Avery Elle.
In order to use the soft kraft color I cut a heart with a Simon Says Stamp die and tried to color the Altenew flower and leave with a soft brown color too.  The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge is to add a sentiment so I used a stamp from them for my sentiment.
I made white pearl dots with Liquid Pearls for a little bit of elegance.
Here is the Freshly Made sketch.

AAA Cards Game 6

Yeah! Another AAA Card and Challenge to share...

This week, the challenge is to use these colors along with this sketch.
I have had this die from My Favorite Things for awhile and had been wanting to try something like this so I know this sketch was going to be the perfect time to pull it out. The butterfly and the sentiment is from a set by Clearly Besotted.
After I cut out the pattern in my white cardstock, I mounted the matching colors behind each cut out.  Simple and fast!
Thanks for visiting and be sure to play along at AAA Cards.

Using cute tags

Once again, I went to some great online challenges for the inspiration for the two cards I want to share with you today.

I love to create but a little help with a challenge always helps!  For this first card, I used the CAS(e) this Sketch.  It is a simple design but so fun to use.
Most of the supplies are from Paper Smooches.  I love this cute notebook tag and it helps that Kim also offers stamps to add the lines so it looks like a piece of notebook paper.  I "cut out" the word thanks and then cut that word again in red and added it into the "cut out" space.  Makes for a fun look.
Here is the CAS(e) this Sketch.
For this card, I used the Cas-ology challenge to use purple and the Less Is More sketch.  I thought it was a fun idea to use just a splash of the feature color on my card.
I love this tag die cut by Reverse Confetti.  I comes with the embossed edge to it.  I had been playing around with these flower stamps from PaperTrey, Inc the other day and thought that paper would be perfect cut in the tag shape.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.
 Here is the CAS-ology challenge.

What to do with a new stamp set!!!!

Create, what else should you do? I know, add in challenges that you can find online!
I just received a new stamp set from Hero Arts and I just had to sit down and play.  First off, I took Kimber's Saturday sketch at 2 peas and the color combination at The Play Date Cafe to create my card. How does it get better then some sunny yellow?
Here is a close-up.  This also goes along with the Cas-ual Fridays challenge to use strips. This set of stamps is all borders so that makes this fun and easy.  The yellow is Distress Ink in Mustard Seed. The stamp pads that I used at by Clearsnap.
This is The Play Date Cafe color inspiration piece.
 Here is Kimber's sketch.
Next card uses the retro sketch for this week plus this also fits that Cas-ual Fridays strip challenge since I just stamped the borders over and over.  It also fits the Moxie Fab Hexagon challenge.
I created a piece using the alphabet border stamp that I just stamped repeatedly and then colored with some Distress Markers sprayed with water.  Next I cut out shapes with my LifeStyle Hexagon dies.
 This is the retro sketch.
And, just for fun, more of my playing around with this stamp set!!!
After I stamped the rows of butterflies, I colored them by just running my Distress stain over each row.  I added LOTS of the ink so that when I picked it up it would run.  I sprayed it with water to help with that. This also fits the Cas-ual Friday strip challenge.
I used a Kreaxions 4-in-1 punch to create that great border along the bottom edge of my card.  I just love what a punched border adds.

Pink Persimmon sketch and CPS card

The theme for today's post - Pink Persimmon! And if you like winning goodies and if you like sketches, then pay close attention.
1. The challenge for today is to use the above sketch.
2. Link your creation to my blog post and you will be in the running to win the set of stamps below. This is the set of stamps that I used for my card using the sketch.
3. Each design team member created a card for the sketch and each one used a different stamp set. You can be in the running for every one of the stamp sets if you create a different card or other project using the sketch for each blog that you participate on and link your card to that blog.
4. You can find the list of design team blogs on the Pink Persimmon site. You don't have to use Pink Persimmon stamps if you don't have any.
5. Post your card to my blog or to one of the other blogs by Feb. 28th.
6. You can turn the sketch to whatever angle you would like and you can create a card, layout or other project using it.
(ps. sign up for the Pink Persimmon newsletter while you are there. They include some great ideas in each newsletter making it so worth getting)
Here is my card using the sketch and the "You're a Jewel" stamp set.
I used one of the bigger buttons and one of the tiny buttons and the sentiment for my card.
The buttons are accented with Copic markers and then the entire background is sprayed with Memories Mist spray by Stewart Superior. The tiny buttons are accented with rhinestones.
And, I also used some Pink Persimmon stamps for my Card Positioning Systems card for this week.
These papers by American Crafts are so fun and girly.
The buttons from a different stamp set were stamped on the woodgrain patterned paper and I used tiny brads in the button holes instead of thread.
The lines for the journaling stamp were stamped on vellum, the sentiment was stamped on one of the lines and I punched this out with a scallop circle punch. Machine sewing was used as an accent.

And some fun photos...
Guess what we did yesterday? Because of the storms we have had and the big waves, there is a good amount of sea glass on the beaches. This is my stash. My husband and I spent a good amount of time hunting.
The waves are so much fun to watch and so here is one view with a sailboat in the background.
We stayed long enough to see the sunset.

Sketch Addiction

This weekend I was on the search for some sketches to use so I could use some of the neat supplies that were sitting on my scrapping table and here are a couple that I found. First, I turned to Card Patterns and used their sketch #27 to go along with these adorable new October Afternoon papers. I think the first thought for these papers would be a project that is "baby" related but when I went on a search for what October Afternoon stamps I had that would work, I came up with this cute label and the word "together". That just seems to go with that cute little row of ducks.
Want a close-up look at the punches I used? I had some extra Michael's coupons this week, so I am now the proud owner of some new border punches!!! Here I used two border punches. That large scallop one embosses and punches.
For the above card, I round a brand-new-to-me sketch and it was just right for these Daisy Bucket Designs papers and my brand new loopy border punch. I was blog hopping and came across the i heart 2 stamp blog and thought this sketch would be fun to use.
Is this punch just plain YUM! It also has a matching corner punch that I am sure I am going to go get.

And the below photo just shows that it pays to be the "little" guy in the crowd. Our two older grandsons were over over the weekend and this is one of the games that got invented. Let me tell you that the smallest guy was pretty happy for the ride. He would willingly lay down on the large frizby for free rides.

Give me some "VERVE" love!

One of my m0st recent finds are VERVE stamps. I have noticed some of their team members using their stamps, that lead me to their web site and, as you can guess, that lead me to buying some of their stamps!!! Why not!!!
I wanted to use a couple sketch challenges right now, Mojo Monday Sketch #82 and Kazan's Sketch #24 at 2 Sketches 4 You and I don't even know how it happened that both of my cards ended up in the exact same color scheme! Not planned at all, weird!
There is more good news too because starting tonight, VERVE is having a reveal of their newest stamps. I know that I am pretty excited to see what is in store. Be sure to check the VERVE web site and/or blog tonight starting at 9 Eastern Time.
This is my Mojo Monday sketch card. I had just picked up this fun patterned paper by Sassafras Lass and I just knew that that adorable cut edge was going to fit the sketch perfectly. That greeting, vine and butterfly are all VERVE stamps. I just love their verse and greeting stamps and then an added bonus is they have great little accent stamps.
The butterfly and the vine were both stamped with white ink and embossed with white embossing powder and then cut out. I used Core'dinations cardstock, I just love their colors. The green square was further accented with score lines using my Scor-Pal tool.
The above card is my 2 Sketches 4 You card. Again, I used VERVE stamps on it. I had already stamped that butterfly for the other card. There are two butterfly stamps in the set, just in different sizes. I thought this was one a little too big to use on the first card and then, what do you know, it just seemed to go perfectly here!
It might be hard to see very well, but if you look real close, you can see that I embossed the green background print with a swirl Cuttlebug embossing plate. I did slightly sand that too so that the embossing would show up a little more. I love the added accent that created. White Slick 3-D Fashion Paint by Tulip was used to add the white dots to the butterfly and to the punched border. This almost looks like pearls and makes for a fun and fast accent.

More The Cat's Pajamas goodness

Once I had these cute The Cat's Pajamas stamps in my hand, I guess I just couldn't stop creating! These things are so cute and you know what is almost the cutest part are the adorable sayings with each set!!!
I did the above card to go with the CPS sketch for this week. I had already created one but I could see this little rocket ship fitting the sketch so perfectly.
It was fun to use star accents on the side piece and the rocket is colored with Copic Markers. There are tiny drops of Aleene's Paper Glaze on the bigger hearts and on the heart on the rocket ship. Just adds for some fun dimension and makes the red more intense.
I have to laugh at the above card because those papers are actually from a Christmas collection but don't they just look like a party ready to happen?
The dog and the greeting are both stamped on the White Cryogen Curious Iridescent paper by CutCardStock.com and both are embossed with clear embossing powder. With all of the black on the doggie, this just makes that black more intense. Can you see the slight shading around the one side of the dog with the Copic Markers. Since the Copic Markers work with a blender pen, it is easy to get a subtle look like this. The cake is also colored with the Copic Markers and the little heart on the top has a tiny dot of the Aleene's Paper Glaze again. That just gives the heart a little added emphasis that is fun.
For this last card, who doesn't love cupcakes and so I just had to use them. I used two sizes of a Nestabilities label die by Spellbinders. That is just an easy way to create a fun accent and it helped to give a great emphasis to these tiny cupcakes.
The frosting on the cakes is filled in with Diamond Glitter 3-D Fashion paint by Tulip and the papers on the cupcakes and the top accents are both filled in with Aleene's Paper Glaze . These both just add some extra fun to the look. For the labels I did use the cutting step and then the embossing step and a tiny bit of added color was sprayed on with the Memories Mists spray.
A couple added accents would be that I embossed the front of the card with a Cuttlebug embossing plate. I used Core'dinations cardstock for the card and so I tore the one edge because that is one of the qualities about this paper that is so nice. And since the front of the card was shorter then the back of the card, I glued a thin strip of the patterned paper to the back edge so that when the card is closed that patterned edge is exposed.
