Photo goodness and Stamping goodness

My first goodness to share with you requires a stop at my daughter's blog to take a look at the adorable photos she took on a Pumpkin Patch trip with some of my grandkids. The focus was to be my youngest grandson, but you can see some glimpses of some of my other grandkids too. I took this one photo from her blog to share this cute little scene with four of our grandkids. Now for the Stamping goodness. This card is shown in the gallery at Pink Persimmon but I wanted to show you the details. All of the stamps are from Pink Persimmon. Are they cute or what? I love the look of a new set of alphabet stamps and I love the font on this super cute set. So I arranged these letters on an acrylic block and repeatedly stamped the alphabet to create a background on the notebook looking paper by Scenic Route. I punched the one side with the Stampin' Up journal punch so it looks like I tore my paper out of a notebook. The little girl from the Little Red Wagon set was stamped on white paper and again on this adorable red, plaid paper by October Afternoon. Then I just cut out the dress portion and glued that on top of the image stamped on the white paper. The other portions of the stamp were colored with Copic Markers. I attached the little girl and the wagon with foam tape because I just love the dimension this gives a card. The wagon is also coated with Aleene's Paper Glaze. I so love the epoxy look that gives and it makes it look like a new, shiny, red wagon. (ps, another great thing about Aleene's is that it is available at stores like Michaels so it is so easy to get ahold of)

A Sketch of this - A Sketch of that

Yes, you guessed it, more cards created from sketches!

The first one uses the sketch from this last week from Unscripted Sketches #23.

Just sitting on my scrapping desk were these Scenic Route papers wanting to be used. I love red anyway, so I had to figure out how to use them for this card. And, I seem to want to use the notebook prints on everything.

I love the Nestabilities. I love the two steps, the one that cuts the shape and the other that gives an embossed line. I think they look so neat when they are done. I left the die in place while I lightly tapped it with a chalk stamp pad. This added just a bit of shading to the shape.

I also just plain LOVE this Loopy border punch and I thought it made for a great side accent to go along with the sketch. Notice the Core'dinations cardstock. Even with this great tan paper, when the edges are sanded, the core is exposed.

This card puts to use the 2 Sketches 4 You sketch #35 for this last week. More papers that were just sitting on my desk wanting to be used are these great papers by Jenni Bowlin. I so love the black and cream papers in this collection.

The chipboard piece is by Tattered Angels and I colored it by spraying it with a few colors of Glimmer Mist. Such a fast and easy way to color my piece.

Notice two things here, the scallop piece is the new Embossed Jenni Bowlin Core'dinations and the card base is a piece of Black Magic. It is black on the top side and a great tan on the reverse side. When this is sanded, the tan core is exposed and what I really love is that you can have a black card with a lighter color on the inside for your greeting.

If you are talking to me, that is a really silly question! I have too much paper if that really is a possibility to a papercrafter! I decided to reach into my stash for this card. I have way too much STASH and really, it is all good.

In a normal world, I would not have put these two prints together but I guess the night I started out to create this card was not my normal world and that is good! I love this BasicGrey birdcage print with this great, red print from Scenic Route.

The letter stickers are also BasicGrey and after I had them in place, I coated them with Aleene's Paper Glaze. I love the wonderful epoxy look that the glaze gave the letters. My little flower accents are just punched out pieces. The solid is Core'dinations cardstock and the smaller circles are punched from the same print as the card. Glitter, Doodlebug brads finish the flowers off.

Notice my fancy punched lacey border and the Core'dinations cardstock that has the edges sanded.

My Own Accents - hand cut circles

I wanted a layout where I could use several of the photos from this day. I also wanted to convey the feeling how quickly our youngest grandson was crawling this way and that and so the other accents needed to be simple.

SO.... I picked up this one piece of patterned paper by Scenic Route that I just love and I cut out one big circle. I wanted it to be uneven and out of shape. I then just starting cutting circles out of that biggest circle. Because the paper is two sided, I could use whichever side I wanted and it looks like I used two different papers. I simply kept cutting circles out of the biggest circle and kept putting them around my layout.

I love the look of journaling paper so I used this journal paper from Scenic Route and used my Stampin' Up journal hole punch to make it look like I had torn it out of a notebook. The Tonic paper distresser and a quick rub with a brown stamp pad gives it a bit of a distressed look.

Using my stash, CPS and some photos to share!

So, not only is this card created with the Card Positioning Systems sketch for this week but I also reached into my stash to create it! I am the kind that always wants to play with the very latest papers I have purchased and yet I have this amazing stash of papers that one day were the new ones, yet they are neglected now. I love Scenic Route papers so I can't think of them as being "old"! I love this particular collection and this pattern just made me think of a very happy card for the birthday boy.
The stars were simply cut out of the patterned paper and I did add them to the card with foam tape so that there was some added dimension. I used some zig zag scissors to cut the orange paper and distressed it a little bit.

I wanted to share some photos with you too.

April of last year we were driving through Oregon and I remembered online friends talking about a Tulip Festival so we made sure we checked out the dates and you can imagine how happy I was that it was still going on on the day we would drive through that area. It is actually in Woodburn which is not all that far from Portland. I created a little collage of some of my favorite photos from that day using Picasa 3. Give me some "VERVE" love!

One of my m0st recent finds are VERVE stamps. I have noticed some of their team members using their stamps, that lead me to their web site and, as you can guess, that lead me to buying some of their stamps!!! Why not!!!

I wanted to use a couple sketch challenges right now, Mojo Monday Sketch #82 and Kazan's Sketch #24 at 2 Sketches 4 You and I don't even know how it happened that both of my cards ended up in the exact same color scheme! Not planned at all, weird!

There is more good news too because starting tonight, VERVE is having a reveal of their newest stamps. I know that I am pretty excited to see what is in store. Be sure to check the VERVE web site and/or blog tonight starting at 9 Eastern Time.

This is my Mojo Monday sketch card. I had just picked up this fun patterned paper by Sassafras Lass and I just knew that that adorable cut edge was going to fit the sketch perfectly. That greeting, vine and butterfly are all VERVE stamps. I just love their verse and greeting stamps and then an added bonus is they have great little accent stamps.

The butterfly and the vine were both stamped with white ink and embossed with white embossing powder and then cut out. I used Core'dinations cardstock, I just love their colors. The green square was further accented with score lines using my Scor-Pal tool.

The above card is my 2 Sketches 4 You card. Again, I used VERVE stamps on it. I had already stamped that butterfly for the other card. There are two butterfly stamps in the set, just in different sizes. I thought this was one a little too big to use on the first card and then, what do you know, it just seemed to go perfectly here!

It might be hard to see very well, but if you look real close, you can see that I embossed the green background print with a swirl Cuttlebug embossing plate. I did slightly sand that too so that the embossing would show up a little more. I love the added accent that created. White Slick 3-D Fashion Paint by Tulip was used to add the white dots to the butterfly and to the punched border. This almost looks like pearls and makes for a fun and fast accent.

Creating Backgrounds - Part 3

This post today is kind of two fold.
ONE - this layout is the one that I entered into the first phase of Simple Scrapbooks "SO YOU THINK YOU CAN STAMP" contest
and TWO - is that I wanted to show how quick and easy it was to create my own patterned paper.
As a finalist in the first phase of the contest, I needed to create a new layout that will be posted starting today sometime at Creating Keepsakes web site and the viewing audience will get to vote on the entries as to which designers will go on to the next step.

Back to the quick and easy background. This one literally took minutes.
1. On plain white cardstock, I repeatedly stamped the flower stamp with black ink. I didn't want the paper to have too many flowers on it so I did space them out a bit.
2. I took a white crayon and colored the middles of all of the flowers. On the white paper, that is almost impossible to see, but you can see the shine of the white crayon because of the wax. This is going to create a resist to the colors we are going to add.
3. When all of the flowers were stamped and all of the middles of these flowers were colored with the white crayon, I took the yellow bottle of the Memories Mists spray and sprayed that over my piece of stamped paper. I wanted varying amounts of yellow over the paper so some areas were heavily sprayed, others slightly sprayed. 4. Next I took the red bottle of Memories Mists and sprayed that over my paper. Again, I wanted the coverage to be varied so the red is sprayed so as to not cover the entire piece.
5. Give these mists colors a minute to dry and then blot the spray off of the middles of the flowers. I say to blot them first because you don't want to smear these colors over your sprayed background.
6. When you have the extra paint off of the middles, now buff these areas with your cloth. The more you buff it, the more the wax will be exposed, revealing the underneath color. You can easily see at this point how the crayon wax did resist the paints. You can see on the layout that I stamped some extra flowers to cut out as accents. (This was my entry for the first phase of the contest, a new layout is up starting today)

Blast From the Past - Paperdolls

I used to create paperdolls, mostly for Accucut using the Jill Rinner templates and dies cuts. I LOVED creating these cuties. It was a fun time when they were the rage. Anyway, I had kept several of these creations in a folder on my computer and I thought it would be fun to pull out some now and then to share with you guys!

My daughters played soccer at that time, so thus, a girl soccer player!
These next two are on cards. These made for some rather tall cards that I thought were pretty fun.

I'm at it again! CPS #78 and more

Yes, more creations from sketches! I just love that a sketch gives me a starting point. All I need to do after that is find the products I want to use. Because I loved the Card Positioning Systems sketch so much for this week, I created TWO cards! One of these cards uses some brand new products I picked up recently because I love to use "brand new" things! The second card uses some Scenic Route papers that have been filed away for a little while and this gave me a great reason to pull them out. I even did a layout from a Sketch This sketch.

If you haven't used 2-sided papers, here is a great example of how well they go together. I just loved this damask design on this October Afternoon print and the reverse side has this journal page print. The damask patterns on the front are rub-on designs by Plaid that I found at WalMart.
I mixed in a rub-on phrase by Scenic Route and this wonderful, romantic looking label by K&Co.
This card is a great testiment to how much it pays to use products from one company that coordinate. These papers just "want" to be used together and here is another example of papers that are 2-sided and how much fun it is to get both sides into the creation. The labels are stickers by SR.
I didn't need to cut out the leaves for my accent but I thought this made for a playful little line across the card to match the sketch.
And Sketch This has a wonderful sketch this week that I just had to use. I just might use it again a few times cause it is just so perfect for cards too. If you look at their blog you will see so many examples. Melissa Phillips recently did a little tutorial at Pursuit Of CraftYness blog on getting a "shabby" look on your creations and she talked about brushing the edges of papers with dry paint so I had to try it on my cut squares. This cutie is our newest niece!
