My card started out when I created this background with a stencil and a couple Distress Inks.

 The colors I used went along with the Color Throwdown color combination.  

 Next I pulled out a flower stamp from a brand-new-to-me set from Altenew.  Since I stamped the flower with white ink and embossed it with white ink, coloring it was then extremely easy using Cracked Pistachio Distress Stain.  Because I used watercolor paper, this ink works like magic for coloring and the white acted as a resist. 

I cut my panel with a rectangle stitched die by Avery Elle making it fit the Simon Says Wednesday challenge.  The sentiment is a word die from My Favorite Things.  I cut the words from Silver glitter cardstock and again from gray cardstock, gluing the two layers together.

Let's Celebrate

Yes, another card created from the inspiration of a couple online challenges.  I love using these challenges to give me direction as to the colors or layout.  

 I used a little block stamp from Wplus9 Designs.  I stamped it four times to fill my card front and then added the colors in the ColorThrowdown challenge using Zig Clean Color markers on watercolor paper.  

 In order to follow the sketch with CAS(e) this sketch, I used a stencil and some Distress Stain to create a design that would become the strip down the middle of my card.  

 The banner and the "Let's Celebrate" is a stamp and die set from Avery Elle.  That was added with foam tape for added dimension.  The dots were created on each flower with white Nuvo Cyrstal drops.  I find it interesting that the white took on the underneath watercolor ink.

You're Awesome

Again playing with some great color challenges and various Distress Inks.

 The background is a mix of Distress Stains.  One of them is a silver metallic ink and I tried to get the light on the card so that you could see the metallic ink.  The flower from Altenew is simply stamped in it's outline form so that background was able to show through. 

 I used a few white Nuvo Crystal drops for accent and the sentiment and the banner stamp and die are from Avery Elle.

It's Your Day card

Not only did I want to use a few online challenges, I wanted to use my new Altenew flower dies. 

 That dotted background die is by Lil' Inkers, I thought this created a lacey look to go along with the photo in the Time Out challenge.  

 The flower and leaves are using some dies from a set by Altenew.  The flower is three layers and I colored each layer with Distress Stains before assembling the flower.  The banner and sentiment is from a set from Avery Elle.  

 Here is the Time Out photo inspiration challenge. 

 This also fits in with the Addicted to Stamps and More Anything Goes challenge. 

And it fits the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of Happy Birthday.

Be Still

My card was created around a few online challenges, starting with the soft color combination from the ColorThrowdown Challenge. 

 A The Crafter's Workshop stencil and some Distress Ink on watercolor paper set the stage with the background.  I used a stitched rectangle die from Avery Elle.  

 In order to use the soft kraft color I cut a heart with a Simon Says Stamp die and tried to color the Altenew flower and leave with a soft brown color too.  The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge is to add a sentiment so I used a stamp from them for my sentiment.  

 I made white pearl dots with Liquid Pearls for a little bit of elegance.

With a blue flower

I used the CAS(e) this sketch for my card mostly because I just plain loved it.  

 I stamped the word "congratulations" four times on my watercolor paper.  I used white ink and embossed that with white embossing powder because I knew that the embossed words would then resist the Distress Stains that I used.  I spritzed the paper first with a small amount of water and then added the Distress Stains directly to the paper.  When that ink is then spritzed again, it runs.  You then need to just set it aside for the ink to dry.  I love how irregular it dries.  The word is from a set by Avery Elle.  I simply love that font.  

 That wonderful flower and the leaf sprig are stamps from Altenew.  The leaf was colored with Copic markers and the flower was simply colored by adding Distress Stains to it.  Again the white embossed lines resisted the ink.

Cute Baby Banners and Addicted to CAS

 Guess who gets to play along with the Design Team at Addicted to CAS this month!!!! This will be so fun, can't wait to share my cards with you.  We get to start with this great challenge to use banners on a project. 

 I decided to turn to my PaperTrey, Inc set of tags and make a banner with some of them.  I colored a piece of watercolor paper first with Distress Stain.  Once that was dry, I cut out the tags.  There are a number of tags in this set, I picked out three of them and went with a star theme.  

My background was created with Distress Stains too.  LOVE using a bit of the Brushed Pewter because the metallic silver is such a neat accent.  I thought that the result of the blues and yellows and the stars made for a baby boy theme.  Creating a background like this is so fast and easy and looks more complicated then it is. The hard part is walking away and letting it dry.  I like to let it dry  naturally rather then using my heat gun because I think this allows for a little more character to the splotches of colors.  My little elephant stamp from Avery Elle.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

Time for another Just Us Girls challenge

Plus my time as a guest at Just Us Girls.

 The challenge this week is colors.  I was also so inspired by that yummy lollipop and those fun colors.

 Because the inspiration photo looks so much like a party, I went with a birthday theme.  

 To use some of the colors, I used a paint brush swipe stamp from Avery Elle and just inked it several times with Distress Ink.  I first stamped the words "happy birthday" using white ink and white embossing powder.  The embossed lines acted as a resist as I stamped the inks over that making the words pop out.  I wanted a very simple look but I did need to add a balloon which is a stamp from Simon Says Stamp.

LOVE everything red

So I did retake pictures of my card in the daylight.  You can read below about the card and my last minute picture taking last might.

 I love the way the stamped paint strips ran when I spritzed them with water.  I did add a small spray of some Heidi Swapp Color Shine.

Plus a close up of the flower and the leaf stamps. I stamped the flower with white ink, embossed with white ink and then colored the paper that was on with red Distress Stain.

I need to take a better picture of my card in some good light but this has to do for now because I just had to play along with a challenge that all about red.

 On watercolor paper I stamped a paint brush swipe stamp from Avery Elle.  Because of some spritzes of water, the Distress Ink ran a bit for a watercolor look.  That is the entire background of my card.  

I used a flower and a leaf stamp from Avery Elle plus the "Hello" sentiment.  This was all finished off with white sequins and white Liquid Pearls.

AAA Cards challenge - For the Guys

 Our theme this for the next AAA Cards challenge is about the guys or a masculine touch and that is normally a difficult challenge for me but fun.

 I reached for a little car stamp I have by Printworks that I just plain love.  It is so easy to use and the red and blue help it fit a masculine look.  In order to make my plain white card fit with my color scheme, I blotched it with some Distress Stain.  

 I used a banner set of tag dies from My Favorite Things. I just love how easy those dies are to use and how any sizes they come in and they stack so easy.  The card was stamped and colored with Copic markers.  The word "zoom" is also from Printworks. 

 I just had to create another card using this super cut little car.  I stamped it, colored it and then cut it out.  My background was super simple with some gray paint stroke stamped images by Avery Elle.  

I used a stitched die from Avery Elle.  It cuts the rectangle and cuts the stitched lines into the paper with one cut.

Stepping up with some Fall colors

I wanted to play along at Colour Me because I fell in love with the combo.  I wouldn't say they really looked fall related but I was able to get a fall slant to my card.

 I went to the Freshly Made Sketch for the layout of my card.  Add to all of that some brand new to me stamps from Simon Says Stamp.  The word "Hello" is a stamp from Avery Elle and I added some sticker letters from Teresa Collins. 

 That neat tag is a die from Reverse Confetti.  The stitch marks on my card front were created using a die from a set by Lil' Inkers.  The biggest die in the set doesn't cut, it just cuts in the stitch lines.  I stamped the wreath with white ink and embossed it with white embossing powder.  After I cut it out with the matching die, I coated the stamped image with Glossy Accents just for some added interest.  The flowers and leaves were stamped with various Distress Stamp pads in the colors of the combo.  Because of the dies for the wreath, flowers, leaves and tag this fits the Cuttlebug Mania challenge too.
