Got Paper?

If you are talking to me, that is a really silly question! I have too much paper if that really is a possibility to a papercrafter! I decided to reach into my stash for this card. I have way too much STASH and really, it is all good.

In a normal world, I would not have put these two prints together but I guess the night I started out to create this card was not my normal world and that is good! I love this BasicGrey birdcage print with this great, red print from Scenic Route.

The letter stickers are also BasicGrey and after I had them in place, I coated them with Aleene's Paper Glaze. I love the wonderful epoxy look that the glaze gave the letters. My little flower accents are just punched out pieces. The solid is Core'dinations cardstock and the smaller circles are punched from the same print as the card. Glitter, Doodlebug brads finish the flowers off.

Notice my fancy punched lacey border and the Core'dinations cardstock that has the edges sanded.

CPS #122 and Rennaissance By Design Stamps

It is the beginning of another week and time to show off a new Card Positioning Systems sketch card. This weeks sponsor is Rennaissance by Design Stamps. I have to say I had not heard of them before but loved the stamps I received plus the adorable way they were packaged, in a cute tin! They offer more then just stamps. My package included this wonderful, brown flourish piece that is on my first card and the amazing turquoise ribbon on my second card.

Maybe the hardest category for me to work with in cardmaking would be sympathy so I was happy to pick up this greeting for my card. One of the newer things we are seeing lately are patterned paper with cut or fancy edges. I had a scrap of this Pink Paislee paper with this amazing cut edge and it just seemed to fit the front of my card to a "T"! Does that brown, cut flourish just fit with the simple look of the butterfly and those words?I colored the butterfly stamp with two different colors of stamp pads. Because this stamp is mostly solid, the colors really show off well. Notice the brown cardstock that I used for the card base. I used a piece from The Chocolate Box by Core'dinations. This line of papers has a shade of brown on the top side and then a core of different colors. I picked a piece with a pink core and so when I sanded around the outside edges of my card, it matches all of my other accents just perfectly. Another advantage to using a card that is brown on the outside and colored on the inside is that when opened the card has a surprise on the inside of a different color plus you can stamp or write on the lighter color easier.

While my new package of stamps was out, I just had to create another card. I did received two different sets and it was pretty hard to decide which one to use so I just used both!!! I fell in love with this little tree and the cute bird with the curly tail! I hand pleated the ribbon across my card and then did a line of machine sewing to keep it in place. The buttons just seemed to work as the finishing touch.

I inked the tree and the bird with different colors of stamp pads and then embossed both of them with clear embossing powder. This just adds a richness to the solid colors. The bird is cut out and added to the tree with foam tape for added dimension and you can see my card base is another piece of cardstock from The Chocolate Box collection, this time with a turquoise core.

Soft and Sweet

I wanted to share a couple cards that show a soft side to cardmaking and to patterned papers.

This patterned paper by Cosmo Cricket looks so quilt-like, so I thought it was perfect for a new baby card, especially with the machine sewing and the punched border that looks so lacey.

I love these letters and so I used one on this card. It could either be an initial or stand for the beginning of the word "all". It is a little hard to see but I used Diamond Glitter 3-D Fashion Paint by Tulip and rhinestones to accent the designs in the paper. I have mentioned that Fashion Paint before and that I like to use it to add glitter to a card because it adds a good amount of bling while still letting the underneath color show through.

The eyes have it!

Can you see what I mean? This little guy has eyes that just catch your attention. This is our youngest grandson, you have seen him before!!!

I made a stop at one of my scrapbook stores and here was this Cosmo Cricket paper that I just knew I had to use with these bathtub related photos I had recently taken. Are the little fish on the green paper just plain cute and fitting? The other print that I picked up had these circles or umbrellas on it and so I punched out a couple to use as accents.

I still had a whole lot of the umbrella print paper left so I just cut some pieces from it to put together a quick and easy layout. I also struggle with the quick and easy kind so I decided I was going to make it work! The rub-ons were in circles shapes already so they fit right in the circles of the umbrellas. They are by Creative Impressions.

Bring on the sunshine!!!

There are a few reasons I just love summer and so I am very happy that it is officially here! One of the things I just love are the longer days of daylight. What is funny is that the sun has been doing a whole lot of hiding but I know it is there so I am good. I thought I would share a card I created for a challenge that is SUMMER related and it has a few fun aspects to it.

I used some of my absolute favorite papers, We R Memory Keepers, for my sun design. Each of the rays are folded so that the pattern is on the front and the back. Since the rays are 3-D, you can see both sides.

The white words on the middle of my sun are rub-ons. I could just have drawers full of rub-ons, they are so easy to use and to place just where you want them


For my actual card base, I used a two sided paper by CutCardStock.com. I just love the bright yellow of the one side and the bright pink on the inside. Makes for a really fun card to open and it so fits my SUMMER theme. I did hand doodle around the outside edge on the front of the card with a white pen.

CPS and My Sentiments Exactly stamps

The sponsor for this week at Card Positioning Systems blog is My Sentiments Exactly. I picked out a neat set of border stamps.

This sketch just NEEDED a stamp like this! The stamped image is actually a little longer then the width of my card but it is one long stamp with lots of words on it. I used the one that has a birthday theme. This Sassafras Lass piece of patterned paper with it's cute little scallop edge made my card come together so quickly.

This close-up lets you see the details of the stamp better and I just stamped a portion of it again and punched out a part of it for the center of my flower.

Father's Day cards

Since Father's Day is just around the corner, I thought I would show off a couple cards I created with a masculine/Dad theme to them.

I have a couple brand new stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms and while they have an astronomy theme to them, how could they fit any better for the guy in your life? I used a Stamp Block to create my background piece. The paper that I stamped it on is by BasicGrey and it is a mix of blues and greens. It was just subtle enough so that when I stamped on it, the design showed up really well.

Notice a couple Core'dinations techniques on this card. I used a piece of cardstock from The Chocolate Box collection. That means it is a shade of brown on the top side and this one is a yellow color on the bottom side. When I tore this piece of cardstock, the yellow core was exposed. The card base is a piece from the Vintage collection. It almost looks like it was sanded and then I did sand the edges of the entire card to show off the core.

I used a couple patterns from BasicGrey for this card.

I used a lettering template to cut out two of each of the letters for DAD and then I tore across the middle of one of each of the letters so that the core of this Black Magic cardstock was exposed. I also sanded the letters and sanded the entire outside edge of the brown colored card.
