Stamping fun

I just love to use rubber stamps. I love that you can have one product that can be used a number of ways. Both of my cards that I am going to share in this post feature stamps.

This first card is my Card Positioning Systems card for this week. I pulled out this adorable Cornish Heritage Farms stamp that I have had for awhile. Is she just too cute sitting there? Since I seem to be so attracted to yellow right now, that was the perfect color for her dress. At first the sketch was looking a little challenging to me and then I decided to just give it my own slant which is the intention of working with sketches anyway.

The piano was stamped with black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder and then this can be different everytime by just coloring her dress in a different color.

Next, I wanted to use the color challenge at Gina K and these new stamps I won at Gina K plus the sketch at Get Sketchy sketch #37 for last week. The color combo is black/white and gray so out came the papers I just received in a goodie box from ScrapbookTrends, papers by My Mind's Eye.

I didn't even have to color the shells, I just gave them a little bit of accent with some gray colored Copic markers.

We have been playing a whole lot with bubbles lately, they can be so much fun for everybody.

He can even play with the bubbles while he was swinging!
Can you see that JOY on his face as he is being pushed in the swing!?

It has really been funny as the poor cat has been trying to figure out these bubbles! Just as she gets up to one, it will pop.

Butterflies and Baby Chicks

I had two things I just had to try this week - one the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger and the new digital butterfly stamps I purchased through 2 Peas in a Bucket. And this is the resulting card from those two challenges, paired with these We R Memory Keepers papers.

I don't do much digital work, I need to practice more to get the hang of it but I just love this butterfly set. There are four butterflies in the one set. I opened a Word document and inserted just this one butterfly and then I sized it to the size I wanted. I knew I wanted it to be rather large. I printed it on the Curious Iridescent Cyrogen cardstock that I just love to use. Printing on it is a dream and so is coloring with Copic markers.

I wanted to pull out all of the colors on this piece of patterned paper so my butterfly is a bit unusual as butterflies go. The center portions were then given a coat of Aleene's Paper Glaze.

For my next card, I have this totally adorable stamp set by Kim Hughes for Cornish Heritage Farms. I used it the other day for the Easter card that I posted. This set has so many adorable stamps in it that I just had to use more of them.

I paired this little chick with some Cosmo Cricket patterned papers and the card base is the new Cosmo Cricket Core Impressions by Core'dinations. Just a bit of sanding and the great embossed design shows up.

Is that the cutest chick?

Gotta share a photo from today. We took my youngest grandson out and about today to do some fun things. He kept this adorable hat on all of the time we were out which is unusual and SOOOOOO cute!

He was riding on a Fire Engine and it had a siren sound, can you see his lips? He was so into it.

Last Ella Friday sketch, 2 Peas color challenge and More

Yeah! I managed to finish layouts using all six of the Ella Friday sketches. I don't remember when I have finished so many layouts, I seem to focus more on cards.

I have had fun going back over the tons of photos I have taken of our youngest grandson and to document events or occasions and this layout focuses on these adorable little teeth. You can't always capture them in photos and they really show off with these smiles.

I used the bottom portion of the red, side piece and gave it some interest. I embossed it with a Sizzix embossing folder. Because I used Core'dinations cardstock, I then sanded the embossed areas and that really shows off the design. That was further accented with some brads to match my colors.

I also wanted to use the color challenge that is the weekly challenge at 2 Peas in a Bucket.

These are typically colors that fit with Christmas themes but these papers made it a fun color scheme for about any occasion.

Did you take note of these amazing, green, embossed background cardstock that I used? It is brand new from Jillibean Soup and Core'dinations. All that was needed was a little sanding and the numbers stand out. I paired that with these great Jillibean Soup patterned papers. Since I had mostly scraps, all I needed was some squares from the prints to make a cute accent.

And now for my card using Unscripted sketch #43. I don't always have time to participate with their sketch but when I can, I love the added inspiration that comes with working with a sketch.
They added to the sketch challenge for this week by adding in a color challenge. This piece of patterned paper with the "boy" words on it was sitting right there on my desk and I knew it had to be the foundation for my card.

I pulled out this totally adorable, Kim Hughes stamp by Cornish Heritage Farms. It is really part of an Easter set but seemed just right for a baby card. I stamped the lamb with black ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. Next I cut out another little lamb from copier paper to use as a mask. I placed that over the stamped lamb and gave my circle a spritz or two of a blue Glimmer Mist. I added further accents with Copic markers and Glitter 3-D Fashion paint by Tulip.

I used a piece of Vintage Core'dinations cardstock. Notice the edges of the card that were sanded. I love what the sanded edge brings to the card.

Can You "RESIST" This?

There are several ways to create a "resist" when working with rubber stamps. I want to share one with you in this post.

I started out with a plain white piece of paper. I just love to see what I can do with a white piece of cardstock. I used a piece of Curious Iridescent Cryogen White from CutCardStock.com. I would guess that most white cardstocks would work in a similar manor, what I love about this particular paper is that it has a nice feel to it and a slight sparkle so when you are done creating you can just barely see that sparkle.

I stamped the vine stamp by Cornish Heritage Farms with white ink and embossed it with white embossing powder. Now for the fun. I started dropping drops of Alcohol Inks over the stamped image. This paper allows the inks to blend and absorb really nicely. I used the Blending Solution to help the inks blend. What is fun about working with this inks is that the more you play with them, the more interesting your design becomes.

The white circle piece is actually the reverse side of my paper. The colors are less intense on the backside and that let me stamp my sentiment by Printworks on it and still let the black letters show off well.

I just love the way this piece looks after the inks dry. The white, stamped and embossed image acted as a resist to the alcohol inks so the vines stand out against the colors.

I just have to share a couple more photos with you. These are a couple looks at the sunset the other night when I was at the beach when we had the amazing cloud formations. The colors got more red as the sun set. Notice the reflections in the wet sand.

CPS and CHF

Don't you just love all of the abbreviations we have created in life? Just makes it easier as long as you know what a person is referring too!!! My title refers to Card Positioning Systems blog sketch for this week and the fact that I used these great stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms for my card. My friend, Julia Stainton was the designer for this great Rummage Bin set.

All of the details on my card are stamped except the raffia ribbon and the pearl head stick pin. I used a "vintage text" background that I stamped over a slightly patterned paper and then accented that with some Glimmer Mist and inking with stamp pads and some other stamped designs. The "honey do" piece and the little bee are colored with Copic markers. I poked holes in the card for my little bee trail but I didn't like that they didn't show up well, so I went over them with a black pen that I poked in each hole.

If you look closely, you can see that I then coated the bee hive and the bee with Aleene's Paper Glaze. I love how easy it is to use this glaze and I love the resulting epoxy look that it gives accents. It is a bit hard to photograph but it looks wonderful IRL. I also used foam tape to add dimension to some of the elements. I almost own stock in that company about now for how much I use 3D foam tape anymore!!!

Father's Day cards

Since Father's Day is just around the corner, I thought I would show off a couple cards I created with a masculine/Dad theme to them.

I have a couple brand new stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms and while they have an astronomy theme to them, how could they fit any better for the guy in your life? I used a Stamp Block to create my background piece. The paper that I stamped it on is by BasicGrey and it is a mix of blues and greens. It was just subtle enough so that when I stamped on it, the design showed up really well.

Notice a couple Core'dinations techniques on this card. I used a piece of cardstock from The Chocolate Box collection. That means it is a shade of brown on the top side and this one is a yellow color on the bottom side. When I tore this piece of cardstock, the yellow core was exposed. The card base is a piece from the Vintage collection. It almost looks like it was sanded and then I did sand the edges of the entire card to show off the core.

I used a couple patterns from BasicGrey for this card.

I used a lettering template to cut out two of each of the letters for DAD and then I tore across the middle of one of each of the letters so that the core of this Black Magic cardstock was exposed. I also sanded the letters and sanded the entire outside edge of the brown colored card.

2 Sketches 4 You and the Bonus sketch

I wasn't going to actually put a large star on my card using the 2 Sketches 4 You sketch #25 for this week because that was far to obvious of a design element and when I use sketches I always try to step back and think outside of the box on what else that design could be but then I picked up this Scenic Route paper from my stash and knew instantly that I needed to hand draw my own star to go with the print on the paper.

I drew my star on a piece of scratch paper just like the ones on the patterned paper and then cut that out for a pattern for the star that I was going to use on the card. The "numbers" print paper is the opposite side of the star print! Aren't they the perfect combo for a kids birthday card?

A simple Thickers number 3 seemed like the way to finish my card. The smaller star is a punch and so is the circle that I put the number on.

I wanted to do the bonus sketch this week too and I was having so much fun "making it my own"! That wonderful embossed white cardstock comes embossed like that. The clerk said it was Bazzill.

I was still playing with my Cornish Heritage Farms stamps and came up with this piece. The stamp block was stamped with a red/orange ink on white cardstock and then colored that by rubbing over it with a yellow stamp pad. The label shape was cut out. Here is a little bit of recycling, I received a wonderful box of chocolates and there was an adorable label on the top and I just knew I needed to keep it for a pattern! I added a little border punched edge and a very simple mix of some other cardstocks. So this card has no patterned paper on it.

CPS and CHF together

Isn't it funny how quickly we use letters for appreviations!? CPS is Card Positioning Systems blog and CHF is Cornish Heritage Farms stamps. These two groups worked together this week to bring you some crafting goodness. I received the Ornamental Beauty and Ornamental Scrapblock to play with and as usual, I couldn't stop at just one card.

The scrapblock is about 6" square and it is full of great designs. I cut out a portion of that stamped design for the front of my card to fit with the CPS sketch. I used Copic Markers to color in the design.

This beautiful greeting piece is part of the set. I stamped it on white cardstock with black ink, embossed that and then colored it with Copic Markers. It is cut out and attached to the punched out scallop circle. These are added with foam tape for added dimension. Portions of this design were accented with the Diamond Glitter 3-D Fashion paint by Tulip but it is pretty hard to really see that in my photos. That adds just a touch of glitter and dimension.

On this card, I also used a portion of the whole stamp block. The flower is stamped with black ink and embossed and then colored with the Copic Markers to match the Pink Paisley patterned paper I used.

It was fun to have all of this dimension with the cut out flower that is added with foam tape.

The stamp block was again stamped, this time on watercolor paper with a white stamp pad and embossed with white embossing powder. It was real simple then to use my watercolor crayons and a watercolor brush to add the color to this piece.

The white dots that were added to the design are White Slick 3-D Fashion paint by Tulip. This is a fast and great way to add a neat accent and a little dimension. The glitter Thicker letters seemed like the perfect accent.

EASTER GREETINGS and a CARD

I wanted to share a card that I created just for Easter. You might recognize these adorable stamps by Kim Hughes for Cornish Heritage Farms.

The label shape is a Nestabilities by Spellbinders. I sprayed it with Memories Mists and used a Copic marker to add an added emphasis of color along the embossed edge. The bunny is colored with Copic Markers and the pink part of the ear, the tail and the nose are accented with Aleene's Paper Glaze for an epoxy look.

Notice my punched border. It is almost covered up with the label piece but portions of it are exposed.

Think GREEN!!! It's MARCH

I think it is pretty funny that when I hear "MARCH", I think of the color "GREEN"! Just seems to go with March 17th being St. Patrick's Day. Thought I would share a couple cards along that theme. This first card uses Laura's sketch #21 at 2 Sketches 4 You's blog since I just love to use a sketch as my inspiration on how I am going to arrange my card. Some recent stamps I received are a couple sets by Kim Hughes and Cornish Heritage Farms and I loved finding this great, simple shamrock on this set.

I wanted to be able to show you how I finished the shamrock image. Like I said it is a very simple outline of a shamrock and so it can be finished in a number of ways. I stamped it on a piece of patterned paper and embossed it with black embossing powder so the edges were raised. Then I did a very light coloring with Copic Markers. Next I filled the image in completely with Aleene's Paper Glaze by Tulip. I love how easy it is to fill in an image with the Paper Glaze and it dries with a 3-D, epoxy look. The patterned papers are a collection by Making Memories.

For the above card, the colors and the stamps are what set the theme. I used a "ticket" stamp for the beginning of my designs.

One feature I want to point out is that after I stamped the solid shamrock stamp with green ink, I coated each one with Aleene's Paper Glaze by Tulip. This gave each of the shamrocks an epoxy look.

I wanted to take a minute to show you the steps that were taken to create my tickets with a St. Patrick's day theme.

1. The bottom part of the above example shows the ticket stamp as it is stamped, a line of three tickets.

2. The second image show the very simple stamps that I added to the open areas on the tickets. The stamps that were used for that are from the $1 bin.

3. This last photo, shows the finished strip of tickets that are stamped and cut out. I inked the cut edges with Chalk stamp pads. So the finished card is five sets of these stamped tickets. I just alternated how I stamped the images.

Look what is growing out in my backyard.
