Sweets for Sweetest Day

October 19th is Sweetest Day. Now does that mean "sweet" like you are sweet or "sweet" as in candy and sugar!? I'm going to take it as meaning candy and sugar and so I'm going to share a card with "sweet stuff" on it.

I used a stamp that I received from Laura Fulcher when she had an Impression Obsession give away on her blog. (Thanks Laura and Impression Obsession)I stamped the cluster of three carmel apples on black paper and embossed it with black. I then "colored" the images with Clorox bleach. The bleach "took out" the color of the black paper. I have an empty waterbrush. I put a very small amount of bleach in a glass bowl and dip the waterbrush into the bleach to pick it up and then I literally "paint" the inside of the image. It doesn't take much and you have to remember that bleach doesn't keep it's potency very long when exposed to the air.
Do you see the neat glimmer of green? That is Glimmer Mist in Key Lime Pie. On the black paper it really shows off the metallic look. I cut a "mask" for my apples and sprayed the paper.
(A mask was created by simply stamping the image on a scrap piece of paper and cutting that out. Paper the weight of printer or copying paper is the best for this. That cut out piece was then laid over my bleached out apples and it protected them from the spray while allowing the spray to go on the black paper.)
For my little matching tag, I "colored" a piece of black paper with the Clorox after I had stamped and embossed the matching greeting that came with the carmel apple set. This gave me the perfect match in the color of my paper for the tag.
