100 Sketches - What a reason to celebrate!!!!

Real quick -check out my daughter's wonderful blog - you can catch a glimpse of my oldest granddaughter!!! Amanda Rae Photography

This week marks Card Positioning Systems blogs 100th sketch. I probably already told you that but I wanted to share my card for that sketch today. The team had a few different sponsors for this week and mine was this Vintage Butterfly set from Cornish Heritage Farms. DON'T forget there are give aways this week and then for a few weeks to follow so get on over there to check it out. You can even win this set that I worked with!!!

I love butterflies anyway, so I was pretty happy to be able to work with this set. It included several different butterflies and some great words or phrases.
I wanted to be able to share with you some of the coloring techniques that I used on my card. I stamped the verse on a plain white piece of cardstock and the background paper I used has a green design on a white background and so I very lightly sprayed both of these with the yellow or Mango Lemonade Memories Mist spray. It just takes the smallest little burst to get a whole lot of color and I didn't want my pieces completely colored, but with a slight spray.
Now for a little hint as to how I colored my butterflies.
1. The butterflies were stamped on plain white cardstock using a black stamp pad.
2. My first step to coloring is that I did a quick burst of spray from the Mango Lemonade Memories Mist over the entire butterfly. (I will cut the butterfly out when I am finished)
3. On the right hand side of the third example above, you can see that I only colored in portions of the wings with my Copic Marker. (I used R22 for that) I also used the blender on those parts because it just adds something to the finished look.
4. To finish, I sprayed the entire butterfly with the Orange Juice Memories Mist spray. Again, I didn't want my piece to be entirely colored with the spray so I was careful to get just a quick burst of spray. Only in real life can you truly see the effect from the sprays. Orange rhinestones were the finishing touch.
Thanks for visiting, Linda (lbpost)
