Something old, something new

I have a few older photos from my Mom's cedar chest. They are such treasures even though there weren't a whole lot from my parents past and my childhood. It is so much fun to use them on layouts. Most of the photos were very small and so I have also had fun making copies of them, doing a little editing to repair defects and then printing them out a bit larger. There is something to the character of them in the black and white finish.
Many of the tiny photos that my Mom had were printed with a deckle edge so even as I have copied them and printed them a little bit larger, I have still, many times, cut the edges with deckle scissors to keep with the look from that time.
There were only a couple of photos from my parents wedding day but at least there were those for us to see. I tend to not use the actual photos from this time. I like to make copies and use them on my pages. That way I can cut them and not feel like I am going to ruin them plus I can often do a small amount of editing that makes them even better then they were.

Thanks for visiting, Linda (lbpost)

  4. Beautiful layouts, with focus on the photos and journaling. I like the deckle edge look of older photos and what a great idea to reproduce it on reprints!
