be sympathetic,
be loving,
be compassionate,
be humble.
That goes for all of you, no exceptions.
No retaliation.
No sharp-tongued sarcasm.
Instead, bless—that's your job, to bless.
You'll be a blessing
and also get a blessing.
1 Peter 3:8 The Message Bible
Our hearts and minds are turned at this time of the year toward the good things in our lives and what we have to be thankful for. Even if things don't look so good for some reason, there is still something we can point out as being thankful for.
When I read the above verse, it made me also think that one way to look at things to be thankful for is in being a blessing to someone else. Takes the attention off of us and our problems. How about if we all took the attitude that it was "our job to bless"!!! Doesn't have to be big stuff, just "bless"!

Lovely inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLinda, we were taught this as children, and it has stuck with me my whole life. It's very true, and works every time. Blessing others through service and love will make you feel better no matter how you feel. Thanks again for a great reminder of our eternal plan of happiness.
