It is a Flower Soft day

I love challenges and today the Flower Soft team has a challenge to show you some more goodness using Flower Soft.
I combined the new Recipe Card Toppers from Flower Soft with a couple colors of Flower Soft. The recipe card toppers come printed and pre-colored. What this means for you is that they are ready to be used on a card or other project "as is". They are cute and come in a variety of themes. I wanted to make a cute card for Dad and I love the color combination.
I used Delphinium Blue Flower Soft for the border and Toffee Ultra Fine Flower Soft for the edge of the little rug.
Remember one huge tip: Use Aleene's Tacky Glue when trying to add the Flower Soft to your project. There are all kinds of glues and they sort of work but with experimenting the Flower Soft folks found the Tacky Glue to do the best job of gripping the most little fibers. Be generous when you apply the glue, it will dry clear and a generous amount will grab more of the Flower Soft little pieces.
Be sure to visit all of the team members blogs to see additional goodness using Flower Soft.

Gotta share a photo from our yard this last weekend! We have these Calla Lilies and what is weird is that they practically grow like weeds! They take no care at all and they just keep coming. They are so gorgeous.
Thanks for visiting, Linda (lbpost)

Scottie Dogs and Outdoor play

For my Card Postioning Systems card this week, I pulled out some of my favorite stamps, these cuties from Pink Persimmon.
I hadn't use this scottie dog in this pose yet, just plain love these guys.
The dog is stamped with the Versafine black stamp pad and then embossed with clear embossing powder. I just love the look that gives to the dogs coat to have it shiny and raised with the embossing. The zig zag stamp is stamped directly on the patterned paper and that white scallop border is from a package of borders by Martha Stewart. There is a little bit of Aleen'es Paper Glaze on the bow, I just love what a touch of this stuff does to add a little bit of added interest and dimension.
***
Gotta share some photos from Sunday! I am borrowing a friends zoom lens and when I say zoom, I really mean zoom! I love how it also diffused the background.
It was a totally gorgeous day here so we were in the backyard playing with a couple of our grandkids. Maybe I should rephrase that - we all watch this little guy run around the yard. He keeps us laughing, that is for sure. We have had this jumpy horse for some time but he was not able to get on it himself before nor could he make it go. The horse came out again and here he is a pro at horse back riding!!! There is no mistaking the complete joy he had in riding this horse, I got tons of great facial expressions.

Butterflies and Baby Chicks

I had two things I just had to try this week - one the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger and the new digital butterfly stamps I purchased through 2 Peas in a Bucket. And this is the resulting card from those two challenges, paired with these We R Memory Keepers papers.
I don't do much digital work, I need to practice more to get the hang of it but I just love this butterfly set. There are four butterflies in the one set. I opened a Word document and inserted just this one butterfly and then I sized it to the size I wanted. I knew I wanted it to be rather large. I printed it on the Curious Iridescent Cyrogen cardstock that I just love to use. Printing on it is a dream and so is coloring with Copic markers.
I wanted to pull out all of the colors on this piece of patterned paper so my butterfly is a bit unusual as butterflies go. The center portions were then given a coat of Aleene's Paper Glaze.
***
For my next card, I have this totally adorable stamp set by Kim Hughes for Cornish Heritage Farms. I used it the other day for the Easter card that I posted. This set has so many adorable stamps in it that I just had to use more of them.
I paired this little chick with some Cosmo Cricket patterned papers and the card base is the new Cosmo Cricket Core Impressions by Core'dinations. Just a bit of sanding and the great embossed design shows up.
Is that the cutest chick?
***
Gotta share a photo from today. We took my youngest grandson out and about today to do some fun things. He kept this adorable hat on all of the time we were out which is unusual and SOOOOOO cute!
He was riding on a Fire Engine and it had a siren sound, can you see his lips? He was so into it.

Bring on Spring - colors and challenges

Colour Q did it again - an amazing color combo and just looks like Spring! I just had to play.

This is my card using that great combo of colors, just in time for Easter and Spring. I stamped the bunny, the egg and the sentiment with a brown Memento stamp pad and quickly embossed that with clear embossing powder. The bunnies on the patterned paper by Jillibean Soup are outlines with brown so I wanted to keep with that look. Plus, my card base is new Core'dinations Core Impressions from Cosmo Cricket. It is a woodgrain design and it is soooo cool.
I wanted my egg to look like a chocolate egg because what other kind would a bunny want so I colored it with three Copic colors. I just love using the Curious Iridescent Cryogen White that I get at CutCardStock.com. I love the way the colors seem to melt together with this cardstock. I decorated the egg with white dots of Tulips 3-D Fashion paint and the bow is accented with some Aleene's Paper Glaze.
This gives you a better view of my grass accent. I just cut many little cuts into this green patterned paper by Cosmo Cricket.
***
Next I used this weeks sketch at Unscripted Sketches and they added another little challenge to the sketch - using a paint chip. Since I really like using paint chips this was exciting for me to use.
I love these multi color paint chips that I picked up at Lowe's but the last time I checked for them, they weren't using this kind anymore. I loved how well this paint chip went with these BasicGrey patterned papers.
The cardstock I used is BRAND NEW from Core'dinations - GemStone. Can you see that wonderful gleem on the embossed piece on the front of the card? This cardstock embosses so neat.
***
Next is my card that I submitted to the CARDS blog, the challenge was to make a card using at least 8 colors! I knew that brads were going to make this easy to do. The results of this challenge should be up tomorrow at the CARDS blog.
I used an embossing folder by Quickutz that is a series of circles. This design allowed me to add brads to the middles of some of the circles. I ended up using 9 brads so that my design was balanced. That meant I used a total of 10 colors.
***
And, last but not least! I worked with the 2 Sketches 4 You sketch, again with some spring colors.
This adorable cupcake is a digi stamp from Digital Stamp Boutique. I fell in love with this cute frosting with flowers. I opened up a Word document and inserted the digital element in that, that lets me size it to the size I want and then I printed it out on the Curious Iridescent Cryogen White that I get at CutCardStock.com. Again, I love how well this cardstock prints and I love using my Copic markers on it. I used some Ultra Fine Flower Soft to accent the frosting and I used some Chunky Glitter from Impress Rubber Stamps to accent the flowers. The chunky glitter was added to the card with Aleene's Paper Glaze, it is the perfect glue for something like this.

BIG- MEGA JustRite Blog Hop - Day 1

It is that time - a gigantic blog hop using JustRite stamps. I was so excited to be able to take part since I so enjoy using their unique stamps.

Both of my cards use stamps from the Plant a Little Love set. I stamped these first flowers on white cardstock with black Versafine ink and embossed all of the images with clear embossing powder. Then I cut that out in a square after I colored the image with Copic markers. I masked my flowers and sprayed this with yellow Memories Mist spray. The patterned papers are by BasicGrey.

The middles of the flowers were accented with Ultra Fine Flower Soft using Aleene's Tacky Glue. I stamped the circle stamp separately from the flowers and cut that out. It is added over the colored flowers piece with foam tape for added dimension.
For this stamp I used a red Memento stamp pad and embossed that with clear. I like the look that comes with the colored ink. Again this was colored with Copic Markers.
The patterned papers on this card are Little Yellow Bicycle and the embossed piece is Core'dinations cardstock.
Now for the details of the HOP:
27 designers, FIVE shopping sprees each day. No one knows where the prizes will be! Each day of the hop JustRite will have five Mystery Blog Candy Prizes hidden along the hop with a total retail value of $600. JustRite will randomly select five mystery blogs each day of the hop and randomly allocate each of the shopping sprees. For your chance to win, simply leave a little love (a comment) on each designer’s blog including the JustRite blog. The more designers you leave comments with, the better your chances of winning. Each day’s comments will remain open for three days. A winner from each of the mystery blogs’ comments will be randomly chosen using Random.org. Consult the listing of designers at the JustRite blog each day (each day’s designers will be different) and start out on your way! Beginning Friday, March 26, summaries of all the winners will be posted on the JustRite blog. Good luck to everyone and enjoy all the JustRite eye candy along the hop!

Today during the JustRite Mega March Blog Hop (Day One) JustRite and its sponsors will be giving away the following five prizes:

· $200 JustRite Shopping Spree
· $100 Spellbinders Shopping Spree
· $100 Stampers Dream Shopping Spree, and
· Two additional $100 JustRite Shopping Sprees!

Blog comments for Day One will be open until Thursday at 6pm EST. On Friday, JustRite will announce on their blog which five blogs have the mystery candy for Day One. You will need to go to the JustRite blog to determine where you need to go to find out if you are one of the five lucky winners.

Fluffy Softness

Flower Soft is introducing new recipe card toppers today so I wanted to show off a card using one of them.
Mine is from the Recipes for Family set, the "Recipe for a Sister" topper. These toppers are pre-colored so they are ready to use "as is". I cut mine up a bit to give it some extra interest. Plus, I used the Card Patterns sketch #56 for my layout. The colors also go along with the Play Date Cafe color challenge. I feel in love with their wonderful spring-like color combo.
The card base is from the new GemStone Core'dinations cardstock. It has a wonderful gleem to it and it embosses so nicely. I used pink Flower Soft on the teddy bear's dress and hair ribbon.

I gotta share a photo too. This is from our little walk around the neighborhood the other day with our youngest grandson. Just like a typical little boy, he loves to find treasures.

Parties and Friends

Our Saturday included a stop at a cupcake shop! Can you say YUM?!
And, now it is time for another Card Positioning Systems sketch card.
Since I just visited one of my local scrapbook stores, I just had to use some of the supplies I picked up - NEW goodies from My Mind's Eye.

The patterned paper, the bracket sticker, party tickets stickers and the loopy border sticker are all My Mind's Eye.

And, I also need to share my card using the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger. This gave me the perfect excuse to pull out my BRAND NEW GemStone cardstock from Core'dinations.

The Tuesday Trigger had a little birdie in it, so I thought this Cuttlebug embossing folder was a good fit on this cardstock that has a wonderful glimmer and shine to it and wowie, does it emboss wonderfully.

The trigger piece also has some red flowers so I wanted a very intense red flower on my card. It is two layers of red vellum. The bottom flower is a punched out scallop circle. The second layer is a punched out circle and I clipped INTO the circle may times with my scissors. I then took each strip and curled it up tight towards the middle. Since it is vellum, it holds the curl real well.

I love good news!

And that news is...I get to be a guest designer at Jillibean Soup sometime this coming year!!! I think that they put out the cutest stuff and so I will be very excited for when my turn comes up, although I am not all that sure yet when that will be.
AND - I wanted to share a couple projects using tons of Jillibean Soup.
I just love when several patterns of papers will work together for a coordinated look. When I first saw these corrugated alphabet letters I just knew I had to get some so when I found them at Emma's Paperie the other day, I added them to my order. I picked the white ones because I just did not know what color I should get. I sprayed the ones on this card with yellow Memories Mist to change the color then I rubbed them with a green Powder Puff chalk stamp pad. I guess the white ones were a good choice since I could custom color them.
See my little pleated accent? I just folded a strip of paper with pleats and then attached it to my card with some machine sewing right down the middle.
This umbrella patterned paper made me soooooo happy since we had just had an afternoon of playing in puddles with a yellow umbrella.
Again, I was able to make the alphabet letters match my layout by giving them a custom coloring job. I sprayed them with that same yellow Memories Mist and rubbed them with brown Powder Puff Chalk ink, just along the bottom of each letter.

Some Nikki Sivils Goodness

Today it is my turn to post on the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog so I am going to show you a little peek here and then I need you to go on over there to see the rest, OK?

I used a couple butterflies from the Flaming Butterfly stamp set for my card and tried a few interesting techniques. I will tell you about them over at Nikki Sivils!

Are you "thinking green"?

I just had to come up with a card just for St. Patrick's Day and since I had these great Nikki Sivils products it was fast and easy.
The horseshow is cut from one of the patterned papers from the My Sweet Cherry Pie collection. The shamrock is three heart punches punched from one of my currect favorite papers, this green gingham from Nikki Sivils. And the sentiment is a stamp from the same collection by Nikki Sivils.
I wanted my card to have alot of white on it so I embossed a piece of white Core'dinations with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.
And, I just had to try my hand at the Unscripted Sketch for this week paired with my brand new paper purchase, Quite Contrary from My Mind's Eye.
Does this combination look like SPRING or what? The two prints are really both sides of one piece.
The label sticker is from the same collection, love how well it matches. The flower was white so I sprayed it with Memories Mist in yellow to make it match better.
I used my Martha Stewart punch for the little border along the bottom and that is finished off with a row of pink rhinestones.
Thanks for visiting, Linda (lbpost)

Touches of pink

I seem to go in phases but todays post shows off touches of pink!
This is my Card Positioning Systems sketch card for this week. I will work with a sketch for almost every card that I create because of the direction a sketch gives to a creation.
I am so excited to share the little details on my card!
The cute, pink, kitty cat is from a Digital set at 2 Peas in a Bucket. I loved this set from the first time I saw it. I don't really do much with actual digital techniques but I really do enjoy using the elements and working with them in a hybrid fashion. Hybrid just means that you are using the computer for some portion of your work, mixing that with real papers and glue. The kitty is from the digital kit and so is the dot patterned paper. I just printed both out on the Cyrogen Curious Iridescent cardstock. I LOVE using this white cardstock. It is perfect for using with Copic makers and it has a slight sparkle to the paper and that shows through with whatever you do with it. I order mine from CutCardStock.com.
Plus, even more goodness is that cute Bingo card. This is a FREE download from MyGrafico.com. It is by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. The download actually contains several different bingo cards. I just opened it in a Word program, all of the bingo cards are available at once and I printed them all out on the same Curious Iridescent cardstock. I cut out the BABY one for this card. The letters for BABY were colored with Copic markers and then I sprayed two colors of Memories Mist by Stewart Superior.
Notice the embossed cardstock? This is new from Core'dinations. The design come embossed in the cardstock and all it takes is a little sanding and the design shows off. Plus, you can see that I used one of my newest border punches.
For my other card, the CARDS blog issued a challenge to create a 3" card. Why is that hard? I really find working on a mini project to be hard or challenging and so of course, I had to play along! If you go and look at that post on the CARDS blog you will be just amazed at the creations.
This is just a 3" square card, the base of the card is a piece of Black Magic Core'dinations cardstock. I like this because the card is black, when the edges are sanded, the core color is exposed and that is a matching turquoise and an even bigger plus is the inside of the card is turquoise.
The damask stamp is stamped in turquoise and then embossed with clear embossing powder. Next I sprayed this with a couple colors of Glimmer Mist just to give some additional interest.
***
And a photo!
I love Daffodils. I grew up in Tacoma, WA and we had a Daffodil parade every spring. We had Daffodil princesses and Daffodils decorated the floats in the parade and so there is a whole lot of nostalgia associated when I see Daffodils plus the look of spring in the air.
